Presumably you have been watching repeats. Pat joined after Barry. He isn't particularly memorable though so it could be that you are actually watching recent episodes and he's been forgotten about!
Yes i would imagine they must have been very old ones as i googled Barry. and on wiki it says he joined in 2008.... i do remember Pat joining he wasn't that long ago!... but Barry had been on most of the shows since i started watching so it was a complete surprise for me to hear Dermot or Jeremy say about the 'newboy' Barry.....

I do agree about Pat!... cant say i have taken to him at all.....

CJ comes across as a nice guy on Twitter.
Over the years of watching Eggheads I've come to the conclusion his huffing and puffing, rolling of the eyes is all just a big act - he's a nice guy in real life.

Edit: Not that I've met him, haha.. just from what I've read/heard.
I've been on Eggheads and I can cnfirm that CJ is in fact a nice chap. He was very friendly and sociable, as was Barry. We didn't really talk to the other Eggheads or Jeremy but they had two ther shows t film that day so they were understandley very rushed, but I didnt get anything from any of them to suggest they weren't anythng other than pleasant. If you're wondering, I was on a team called blood, sweat and beers and we lost. I got all my questions wrong and looked a bit like a camp serial killer on TV, as I was covered in make up. So not a good result.

Barry came along just a bit earlier than Pat. And he arrived by the same means.

I wish they'd repeat Are You An Egghead as I missed them completely. Hopefully they'll do a third series now CJ has left.

There doesn't seem to be any suggestion his death was connected with the programme

Did anyone think there was a connection?

A tough question for the contestants tonight .......What is the first prime number after 1,000?
Nobody knew the answer - not even the Eggheads.

That was tough alright.
I think it was evened up a bit by the eggheads question about the record from 1953 (or was it 52) that was banned by the BBC. fair play to Kevin on that one.

I hate them all apart from lovely Judith! I like her because I feel sorry for her losing the majority of the time and she just seems so nice.

I've read CJ isn't all that nice in real life but then he may have been having a bad day. He comes across as a complete twunt on the show but not as much of a twunt as the crabby Daphne with her stupid patronising shaking of the head when a contestant gets a question wrong. Discard her, BBC!

Surely an early evening light entertainment programme shouldn't make one so angry...

I like them all. They are all so different. I'm really sorry that CJ is leaving. I suppose they will be having another 'So you want to be an Egghead' to find someone to take his place.

I don't think being the first to win a million on Chris Tarrant's show really qualifies Judith to be on Eggheads.

But having 5 World Champions as the Eggheads would simply be a bore, its ok now having Pat and Kevin but it does need equalling up. Plus every Egghead has their strength and weaknesses, they usually play Judith at her weakness in order to get numbers in the final

A little known fact is that long before he became an Egghead C.J. actually used to play keyboard for 'Sparks'.

See here .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grhS_...eature=related

I think CJ puts it on for the show, (read the 5th question, where he says he plays the character): http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/celebri...ead-60358.html

I prefer Dermot presenting than Jeremy. When Jeremy presents, it annoys me when he says that the player can "choose the first or second set". To me, it's just a bit of a pompous way of asking if they want to go first or second, which is a much easier way of saying it.

I've also noticed that when the contestants or Eggheads answer a deciding question, (whether it be to decide who wins the round or the overall match), whenever Jeremy says, "If you've got it right," they have done. And vice versa if they've got it wrong. It happens every time he says it. He gives away the result before the right answer is revealed.

Glad to see the back of the odious CJ. If he ever came over as nice, that would have been an act. Vile!

'Vile' is a bit harsh, surely.
