Steve's incessant range of facial expressions is funny to watch. His cheesed-off look reminds me of a northern Jack Dee. He's done well so far. Beth, in contrast, looks very nervous at times.
It struck me that he's probably a bit deaf.......apart from asking for repeats of questions a few times he does sort of screw his face around as though trying to point his better ear towards Jeremy

I've always assumed the asking to repeat the questions is just to give himself a bit more thinking time, but maybe he does have hearing issues.

Could be that they do it to give a bit of padding if the challengers are particularly weak and there are no sudden death's and quite a few Eggheads only have to answer 2 questions....

She wasn't certain of where Gare du Nord was located. She did eventually assume France, but not Paris. In any event, while London and Paris would clearly have more passengers in total than Milan, it is possible that it could have a station busier than any particular London/Paris one.
Milan Central is the only station in Milan (of any importance) whereas London and Paris have several. Gare du Nord has around 190 million passengers per year, Milan Central around 150 million while St Pancras only has around 32 million

That and "i'm not quite sure on this one" pretty much every question led to one or the other!
It was the sheer volume of bullshittery that got me.

"I don't THINK it's that..."

Oh yeah, why not? SHOW YOUR WORKINGS.

Thanks for that. I think it reflects the point I was making, ie, the Milan answer wasn't as implausible as was being suggested.

I have to say Steve really annoys me, I don't find the faces he pulls funny at all just incredibly irritating. I wasn't keen on him on Make Me and Egghead and was hoping he wouldn't win. It's hard to put your finger on what it is with some people they just get on your wick! I really like Beth and hope that she improves as she does seem quite nervous which won't help, but Steve is definitely the better quizzer.

Even though they weren't good, I really enjoyed the team yesterday, they were jovial and funny and up for the challenge which is what I like in the challengers.

I wouldn't have minded if they had won, alas they didn't know a thing!

Old Episodes already, would have thought that there would have been more filmed. Nice to see Daphne on it again though!

There's 85 episodes of this series, I think they reached Ep 24 last Thursday.

I tweeted Rob Dean and he said there will be 3 weeks of repeats

I'm not really sure why but I will have to put down my stat pen.

They do seem to keep suddenly going back to showing older episodes in the middle of a series without any warning, which is very strange. I wish I knew why they do this.

So they can extend the new episodes into next year to sustain interest instead of a massive repeat run whilst they film another series.

So the new ones last longer? I just can't understand the reason behind going down from 100 to 85 because of make me an egghead.

They filmed 25 Make me an egghead so it comes to 110 in total.

Daphne was an excellent quizzer. She was brilliant and the strongest female contestant that the Eggheads have had. In fact she was so strong that the only ones that you would put ahead of her would be Kevin and Pat. She is sorely missed by the eggheads.

Interestingly Judith is now the same age that Daphne was when she left Eggheads.

How strange when realising it was an old episode

Presumably they have to show the episode where the Eggsheads total winning run is the same as the point at which they insert the old episode

So tonight for example they could only have showed old episodes where the prize fund was up to 10K

.........and does this mean that if they go to a new episode tomorrow they'll have skipped from 9K to 11K in the current series.....

just struck me as a very off way to go about things..........

Her pretend "I don't know" and inevitable "lucky guesses" to nearly every question were very irratating, glad she's gone

And then she chuckles and apologies to the other contestant. I'd forgotten how annoying she was (a 9.2 on the de Mooi scale) and could feel my neck tensing up before I switched off.

I'm guessing a CJ is a 10?

Where does Jeremy Vine come?

That would be the Vine Scale, so bad it makes the de Mooi scale seem perfectly pleasant!
