Watching repeats recently it seems like CJ and Jeremy Vine loathe each other, wonder if this was the reason he left?

Vine once aaid it's the classic line up with CJ in the middle to the challengers and the challengers picked him. CJ said "Thanks Jeremy" as though it was Vine's fault he got picked.

He did not like it especially as it was one of the subjects he usually struggles on.

The contestants that p**s me off are the ones who when given a question like;
What war did the Nazis feature in?
a) The Crimean War
b) The 2nd. World War
c) The Peninsular War

They say, "I am ruling out the Crimean War, so it's a toss-up between WW2 and the Peninsular War.
Mmmm, history is not my speciality, I'll have to have a guess.
I'm none too confident, but I'll have a stab at WW2."
I find myself hoping to God that both the contestant and their team get blown out of the quiz.

[quote=sheila blige;63811860]I always thought that Daphne and CJ came across as one! It sometimes seemed like one was the evil love-child of the other! The way they'd both look when someone from the other side got a question wrong - as if someone had farted in their faces!
I agree. They really are such bad sports, constantly mocking their fellow team members as well as the guest team. Daphne also pretending she doesn't know an answer, meek an mild! then invariably gets it right. They are disgraceful with Barry the apprentice "bad sport" joining in from time to time. The glory is they also demonstrate their ignorance. Well Daphne more than CJ as he often pretends he knows something when his startled rabbit face says otherwise. I record it and try not to look at them now as I end up furious at their disgraceful childish behaviour.

Judith coming over all smug and clever today explaining to a young contestant that a winkle is like a cockle when it is absolutely nothing like it, and she's out yet again.

I see the prize money is up to £32000. Will it ever be won, will Judith even win a round and will she ever get picked for anything other than sport?

What's been annoying me lately isn't the eggheads but the contestants. The way in which they've taken to applauding themselves every time one of them gets an answer right is just pathetic.

There does appear to be a correlation in that teams that applaud themselves are teams that lose.

I'm with you on that! Every time there's a team which insists on whooping, cheering and yelling such inanities as "C'mon!", or "Get in there!", I look forward to them being utterly humiliated!

The ones that makes me laugh are the "single subject" teams in which the whole bunch claim to be (e,g.) sports fans (that's the usual one), so they then look confused when they're told the next round is "Geography" or "Science". You can almost see them thinking "Wot? They're not all sport questions?"

Of course, it invariably turns out that their definition of being a "sports fan" is watching football, so they know next to nothing about golf, F1, rugby, horse racing, boxing etc. etc. etc! Watching Judith beat such a "sports fan" in the sport round is one the great joys in life!

Still after win-loss records on the head to heads. When was the last time Ashman lost?

Do the challengers ever get an answer right in the sudden death rounds, other than on the odd occaision with the fluke of a total guess? I can't remember the last time they did.

Yes, a few nights ago there was a battle (with Barry I think) that went to 4 sudden-death questions each.

It was quite funny when a self proclaimed sport expert went up against Judith and lost.

The current record win is £75,000 (or so) so there's a way to go for this prize to become the most ever...and last night was a bit squeaky for the eggheads...but they made it through.

God yes , the woman does my head in .Nodding sagely when a questions is asked and making absolutely sure we all know she knows the answer . Hand over face when an egg is going to answer wrong and the look of sheer horror at their ignorance is awful to watch .

The team tonight gave the eggheads a good run for their money I thought. They put up quite a fight so at least it wasn't so bad that they lost.

I would have screamed if Judith hadn't got the 1st 'p' word right in the abreviation for the government position of PPS when asked though.

I was on Eggheads a few years ago and CJ just plays the part well. He isn't nasty or unfriednly at all. In fact whilst we were in the green room, he was the first one to come and say hello.

It has been said before that CJ is a really nice guy off screen. It's a pity that it doesn't come over on the telly.

There's been a trend over the past few years for people to come across as aggressive, nasty, arrogant etc. as it's always fun to have a "pantomime villain"! More often than not, I'm sure its just an act.
