The Challengers won!!
Eggheads didn't know the answer and guessed wrongly on their third question about speed limits. |

Not a big fan when 1 challenger beat 5 eggheads in the final because especially yesterday the team didn't deserve any money
However that last challenger guy did seem to use educated guesses which, with a bit of luck, got him three right answers. It did hinge on the eggheads getting their third question wrong though. If they hadn't and it had gone to sudden death I doubt whether the result would have been the same. |

I only caught the last few minutes of the show whilst waiting for Strictly It Takes Two.
But after hearing that the money was, at least in part, going to charity I immediately suspected the Eggheads had deliberately thrown the match.

Plonker tonight who took on politics against Judith as a fall guy for the team just lost the round. Not a good start. Easily guessable questions for Judith too. Very disappointing.

Ok it's FIlms and TV now and the young 22 year old student girl of the team. I wonder if I can guess what'll happen.

Yup. Daphne thrashed her three one. She didn't know the TV series Ripper St was based in whitechapel and said Chelsea.
Now 5 eggheads to 1 challenger as usual in the final round. |

It seems very unfair that a good team might come on the next time after a big win and get only £1000 for their win when the one before got a much larger amount .

Absolutely shocked at the "travel agent" doing geography who knew nothing about geography. Thinking Mauritius was further north than Sri Lanka...and thinking the Fylde was Scandinavian??
I suspected the girl would guess Chelsea for that question (prpbably a "made in Chelsea" fan) |

I could imagine asking him to suggest a place in the U.S. for a skiing holiday. He'd probably say, "Key West is very popular." |

Agree with that, it was the travel agent thinking that Mauritius was ABOVE the Equator that threw me.

I thought thast in the introductions he described himself as a retired Travel Consultant ... ie. pretty much a booking clerk. If the travel agent he worked for didn't do holidays in Mauritius of book long-haul flights to Lancashire, why would he have to have known those? Maybe he specialised in holidays to European destinations. |

I asked my ten y.o. Grandson if he knew where Mauritius was, he said, "Isn't it an island in the Indian Ocean, near South Africa?" |

Okay, travel consultant he may have been, but he thought that Mauritius was north of the equator?

Well done to your grandson ... but so what? Does that mean everyone's supposed to have a knowledge of islands in the Indian Ocean?

I wasn't suggesting that my Grandson is MENSA material, but I'm surprised that any reasonably intelligent adult, with an average understanding of world geography, a travel consultant in particular, would think that Mauritius is north of the Equator. |

It was very disappointing that the eggheads lost their long run to what was basically a poor team. But it's not the first time. I've seen several egghead losses over the years and only once did I think that they had been fairly beaten. Usually it's just a question of the eggheads getting a stinker of a question whilst their opponents muddle through.
However logic seemed to desert them this time as they chose speed limits whilst what did happen at that time was the complete revision of road signs ( not I have to say to my liking) and given their ages I'm really surprised that they didn't realise that. |

![]() I couldn't help but wonder if Chris would have known the answer if he'd been on that episode. He seems to like his transport questions! |
