Can anyone please answer the following.

Whenyousave a normal cd to iTunes its normally shows a file size of approx 750mb.

When you sync and save to your iPad 2 . How much space does it take up on your iPad. I only have a 16gbipad and I am concerned if I start to save all my music to the iPad I will have no room for other things. When it transfers does it compress to a smaller file.

Thanks for any help, I am a complete novice

iTunes should be compressing it for you. If you right click on one of the songs you have imported and choose 'Get Info' it will show you the file details on the Summary tab.

I believe the default setting for iTunes importing is AAC format at 256 kbps. This will give you files around one fifth of their uncompressed size, or approximately 2 MB per minute.

When you plug your iPad in, on the options screen with the picture of it, you will see an option to convert all songs to 128kbps before putting them on the iPad. This will make sure it takes up the least amount of space without diminishing audio quality too much.

Another option is to use iTunes Match and all your songs will show on your iPad but it won't actually load them until you come to play it. Might be an option if you are looking at saving space.
