You might want to check back some of the earlier series before you say Dan has only had young partners.

Linda Lusardi was 50 or coming up to 50 when she did the show hardly young she would be classed as a mature partner and neither Gaynor or Emily Symons would be classed as young either and all older than Dan himself.

Hayley is about the same age as him. Kerry only a few years younger and Roxanne was his youngest partner and she was 26 when she did the show although you would class that as young when you consider there have been celebs like Emily Atack who I think has been the youngest female competitor in the show it isn't as young as you would think.

You could argue why doesn't Frankie, Maria or Brianne get the mature male celebs then or what about Matt? he hasn't had an abundance of mature or weaker celebs either. Yes Denise, Bonnie and Heather were older but Lisa, Suzanne and Zoe were all young partners and he has another young partner in Jorgie this year.

So why single Dan out when there are other pro skaters who haven't been given mature celebs to work with?

tbh I doubt that Jennifer has thrown a strop - that's not how she came across in Hell's Kitchen. Gordon Ramsay is pretty demanding but Jen's cheerfulness and hard work won him over.

Has Jen practiced with a reserve and if so for how long?

As far as Im aware Jen has not skated with a reserve at all the reserve skater was Andrei who is now obviously paired with Heidi there was a last minute stand in for the opening number but not sure if hes a proper reserve or was just drafted in for that one number.

She's paired with a partner to match her height and weight. The routine matches that too presumably. I don't imagine its possible or safe to just switch partners. The reserve might be medium sized and powered, or not, so there might be a major difference or not. Its debateable whether even the best celebs like Suzanne or Clare could perform as well with a different sized (shorter/smaller) pro when they were given one on tour and they certainly didn't change partners at short notice .It looks like a choice between a week off if Dan can recover, or a week off and then a suitably sized replacement, or next year.

Imo the DOI team have known sufficiently long enough that Dan has an injury and that Jen has had time to practise with a reserve. I've seen somwhere earlier on this thread that a reserve is available, so why has Jen not been working with them in case Dan can't compete? It seems a bit of a cop out if Jen won't skate just because Dan isn't able to perform.

Probably not. it seems to be part of the usual press coverage of DOI and similar shows that one of the contestants, always one of the ones best known to the general public, has thrown a strop, or is acting like they think they are a big star, or some other "ideas above their station" scenario.

All of the contestants are under a lot of pressure, and if you look hard enough, they'll all display some behaviour that can be described negatively. The nervous ones who say they can't do it are described as throwing a diva tantrum, while anyone who is enjoying themselves and looking forward to it, is called arrogant.

I'm not saying she should have gone out, but if the skate off has gone against Heidi last week this would have been very easy to solve!

How have they known sufficiently long enough? Dan got injured last Thursday 24 hours before the live dress rehearsal and 36 before the first live show they at that stage could not have got a reserve in that soon.

Heidi was paired with Andreii mid December which gave them a good 2-3 weeks maybe more if they practiced right through December before she skated. Even Chico has had a couple of weeks of being paired with Jodeyne before having to skate. It is easier to pair male celebs with female pros than female celebs with male pros. If you have a tall female celeb then you have to have a pro of at least equal but preferably taller for example. Assuming they decided on Monday that Dan wasn't fit then she would have had a week to relearn the routine with a new pro and gain trust in them etc and I don't think a week is sufficient time to do it. Certainly not with regards to trusting them to lift you etc.

Not when a reserve wouldn't know the routine and would be learing it from scratch. We still aren't sure that there is even another reserve as Andreii has already been brought into the show. So if one wasn't available they would have to get one which could be difficult given a lot of pro skaters are currently appearing in shows all around the world and may not be available and that would eat into time as well.

The injury only happened on the Thursday until Dan was assessed they wouldn't fully know what was going on so they couldn't just bring in a reserve at that stage until a decision had been made. Even now its still unknown if Dan will make it from the clips on the site it does look like he has been trying to make it this Sunday but he was still awaiting on physio giving him the all clear.

Even if you did get a reserve in when you say that is still just a little over a week and 2 days of that would have been lost because the dress rehearsal preparations are over the full day and the Sunday is pretty much a full day as well. So your still talking less than a week of preparing with a new pro which would not have been fair. Chico has had 2 weeks with Jodeyne and Heidi has had several with Andrei.

If I was in Jennifers position I wouldn't be trusting someone to lift me up and throw me around if I had only known them for a week it takes time to build that trust up and I don't think it can be done in such a short space of time. I think that is part of the problem with Heidi and Andrei the trust has not been fully built up yet.

Well i guess we will have to wait and see then. I still hope Dan is fit to skate

He might be doing a changed and simplified routine with less stress on his injury just to get through on sympathy and Jennifer's popularity.

Actually Dan tweeted at the same time as Jen and as for him not replying to people, so not true as Ive had a number of replies from him, he does get so many tweets at times that he just cant reply to all so he will do a tweet that really answers everyones questions.
Havent actually seen Jen reply to any fans.

And also Matt rarely replies to fans.

I think most of the older pro's don't but some of the new ones from last year & this year, seem to reply to some of the tweets,

Dan's so popular I doubt he has time. A lot of the DOI stars seem pretty good at answering messages on Twitter, though I've only had one so far - I'm grateful if someone does reply, not annoyed if I don't.
