2012 will be Madonna's Year
I have a feeling 2012 is going to be the year Madonna makes her mark on the music Industry again. This is her 30th anniversary year plus a new album with William Orbit on board may prove she is going to make a decent album again...
a world tour should be happening too and I think she is out to put Lady Gaga in the shade but can she? |

Let's hope so. As much as I loved Lady Gaga at the beginning of her career - she's become really really annoying and attention seeking recently.
Madonna has been around longer than most of us and still manages to release groundbreaking music every 4 years or so. Defo can't wait for this release. Let's hope it's something completely different again. |

I'm not hoping for too much in case of disappointment. It will just be great to see her making new music again.

I think it really depends on the material.
The general public won't care unless she delivers radio friendly, easily accessible hits. Remains to be seen whether that's the direction she's gone in. GMAYL probably won't do it. My gut instinct is that the album/singles will do well, but nothing spectacular, and it'll be the tour that obliterates the competition. It's her 30th anniversary, so it's the opportune moment to really go for it. Wouldn't be surprised if the aim is to top U2 and be the biggest tour of all time to mark the event. |

YES! end of
![]() She has W.E, The Super Bowl, lead single and videos, new album, new tour, its a massive new Madonna era! And will be a massive event in music for this year anyway. And overall it will be one of the bigger sellers anyway regardless....and depending how its marketed of course. But this is definitely Madonnas year. |

I think she will do good but not as good as some think she will. Huge pressure on her to dominate 2012.

Rubbish as Ray Of Light her most successful album proves. Hardly any of the songs on that were radio friendly aside from the title track yet its sold 22 million copies. The only people trying, or hoping, to make out Madonna will be in trouble this year are Gaga fans. |

But up there with Olympics, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, Lana Del Reys debut album....Madonna is definitely a massive event box needing to be ticked. She will end up being one of the top 10 best selling albums by year end too....i personally cannot wait just to have new music, videos, performances and to see ehr live!

I think she will be very sucessfull musically this year. W.E won't because her movies never do and people are snobbish towards her films.
I think people are bored of Gaga now so once Madonna comes back she will remind people she did it all first. Her new single has Nicki Manji and Mia on it while she has the Super Bowl in front of 200 billion people as mass promo for her new single. Also remember this. Madonna's last tour four years ago is the most successful tour for a solo artist of all time. She is heading into her new era with that in mind which is why Live Nation are going all out. |

Yeah but think about it...Radio Times also and Empire also have said similar....W.E wouldnt have any promotion or this amount of attention behind it if Madonna didnt direct it.
And tbh the % is much better than her last film ![]() |

Faith & Wisdom is actually really good imho. If Madonna's name wasn't attrached to it she would have won rave reviews for it.
I would love for her to do a film set in a Newsroom to be honest! Just imagine the pop culture references she could include in it...in fact wouldnt that be kinda epic! get the casting right, spend a few months filming and then DONE!

Its a genuine definition of a musical landmark! and a masterpiece. That idea of incorporating Electronica with Trance and Trip Hop beats was a massive risk at the time...and paid off

The final version will have more focus on the basslines, Madonna ahs a different vocal on it and of course MIA and Nicki are on it too. It will be loud and colourful lead single

The only people trying, or hoping, to make out Madonna will be in trouble this year are Gaga fans. My point remains valid. As you said, RoL had the title track - and Frozen - as relatively radio friendly, easily accessible lead singles to hook the public into the album. If this upcoming release doesn't have radio friendly, easily accessible singles then you can only assume the result will reflect that. It's Madonna, she's obviously going to sell well regardless, but we're talking about the general public buying into it here. |
