Anyone purchased a TV from the Sony website?
I bought a TV from sony.co.uk just before Christmas and it was delivered from a nearby Sony Centre, but I don't seem to have any kind of receipt to state where I bought it from.
I realise I probably should have noticed this before (feel a bit silly, but got caught up in all the excitement! ), but I was just filling out the form to claim the £100 cashback and went to look through everything in the box (because you need the "original sales receipt" to claim the cashback) and realised I don't even have anything to say where I bought it from. There was no invoice/receipt - the address was just on a label stuck to the box. I've registered the TV on the Sony website so they have a record of the serial number, but under order tracking it just says the reservation was acknowledged, it never updated to saying dispatched or delivery completed. I have the "your order is being processed" email, but again no confirmation that the payment was accepted and the delivery completed, so I'm not sure a print out of the email would suffice for the claim? I tried to find the stores' contact details on the website and found that the store is no longer even listed! It's not that local, so I can't just go and pop in (or though I could go if necessary), but I'm assuming that means it shut down or that it is no longer a Sony Centre?! Anyway, I've emailed Sony and if I don't get a reply in a few days I'll ring them (haven't yet because it's a premium rate number, plus I'd prefer a written response), but just wanted to see if anyone has ordered from the Sony website and whether they received some proof of purchase or have successfully claimed cashback? |

Phone them 020 7365 2947 give them the original order number, and ask for a PDF of the VAT receipt, they will email it to you.
The second guy seemed much less knowledgeable than the first - who I tried asking for, but I was told he was not working today and then that he was just on a break. Am I being given the run around or is there literally nothing they can do? The deadline for claiming cashback is end of Jan, so I'm slightly worried I'm going to miss out if they are having trouble getting the receipt! |

Think you are better off complaining in writing direct to Sonys head office - if you bought it from Sony then they should have all your deatils there

"Please note that this email is only to acknowledge we have received your Order. The contract between us will not be complete until we have sent you an Order Confirmation by email to notify you that your order has been despatched to you." But I never got the order confirmation email saying it had been dispatched, the TV was just delivered a few days later. I supposed, from the cashback people's point of view, I could have cancelled the order or my payment could have failed. Maybe I'm just paranoid! |

Sony called me back and have given me an address to write to. Apparently now the owners of that Sony Store have gone into administration I have to request the invoice myself via post. You'd think Sony could do it themselves! It was "their" store and when I give them my order number over the phone all my details come up on their system, so they have as much info as me! Although they did say if I miss the cashback deadline they would sort it out (if I ring them again, for the 4th time!), so lets hope they do because I don't see me getting the invoice through within the next week - I'm guessing these things aren't a priority for companies in administration. I'm not sure whether to still send off the claim form after the deadline though - I guess they might have been told to expect some late claims (apparently I'm not the only person having this problem).
I know it's not directly Sony's fault, but almost 1 hour on the phone and now a letter to send, it seems rather a lot of hassle and (albeit small) expense - I'm just glad I'm really happy with the TV! |

Exactly the same as Panasonic stores, nothing to do with Panasonic either. But you would think, seeing as you ordered it from Sony's own website - that they could sort it all out easily enough. Did you get the five year guarantee?, you should get confirmation (with a policy number on it) back from Sony after you've registered the 5 year warranty. You need that policy number in case you have any problems with it. |
