Which bands were you indifferent to, or even disliked, until one particular moment? I was never a fan of these artists until I saw one specific performance and from that point on I've always liked them.
Robbie Wiliams - Let Me Entertain You video. Until one time I caught this video, I couldn't see what was so special about him. I didn't (and still don't) see what all the fuss with Angels is about, but with this song and video it occured to me that maybe he isn't as bland as I thought. It showed me that he wasn't just turning out the usual post boy-band generic pop for the teen market a la Ronan Keating (and now Rachel Stevens), but was trying to do something more rock oriented. Great opening and trumpet solo and a great tongue in cheek video nod to Kiss.
Coldplay - Chris Martin performs Clocks live at the Brits, 2003 (I think). Same as with Robbie, I'd heard their previous records but they just washed over me, but I was captivated by this performance. It was just Martin alone on virtually pitch black stage with bright lights directly on the piano. From his p.o.v. he wouldn't have been able to see much past it, certainly not into the audience and he belted out both the playing and singing. A superb live performance. Contrast this with The Sugerbabies from the same show and the difference in talent stood out a mile. Ever since then Clocks is one of my all time favs.
Elvis - Suspicious Minds live performance from That's The Way It Is, shown on TOTP2 years ago. Man oh man. He looks gorgeous, sings fantastic, never stops moving and he reprises the "caught in a trap...." part over and over, getting faster and faster each time. When it finally finished all I could say was 'WOW'.
From Out Of Nowhere - Faith No More, Now 11 (or thereabouts). I first heard this on this album. I'd never heard of FNM until then, but I bought the album when it came out (must have been about 16 or so years ago) and as I always do I listened to all the songs. As soon as the intro came in I was like what the hell is this? It's so frantic and frenetic that I barely heard the lyrics. As I played it over and over, I realised it had great lyrics too. When I saw GnR play Wembley in '92, it was mainly them as the support act I went for.
