O2 pre-pay simplicity chowing way through data

Hello

I have a wee Question. 2 phones, Samsung Galaxy 2 on o2 simplicity pre-pay £13.50 a month 500mb

O2 post pay Blackberry 100mb.

My Blackberry has only used 5mb in 3 weeks, I use facebook, twitter, browse the web, send emails, check the news, download BB apps etc. My brother's new tariff has used 475mb in 3 weeks and his phone usage is the same as mine.

Would anyone know why this is happening on the Simplicity? It's clearly MB hungry! Could it be his phone? He has just done a short check an in a short space of time his phone used 2mb. Surely something is wrong? any advice hugely appreciated!

It wont be the network it will be something on the phone, check all the apps are disabled then use them as they're needed. See how it goes from there.

You have a BlackBerry, he has an Android phone. Your data is routed through the BB servers which have the best data compression in the business, hence you use a lot less data than he does. Android offers a much fuller web experience, full HTML email, streaming video etc.

Android and iOS generally give pretty much a full web experience, whereas BlackBerry is much more of a mobile optimised web experience.

Ta ta for your replies, I didn't realise that Androids munch data. Bro changed to Giff Gaff network which is working in his favour at the mo.

Giff Gaff bringing out a cap soon as some people are abusing the unlimited mb. Typical.

THANK YOU.
