Bugger, its saying -

"Please check that the Zip you've entered corresponds with your billing address for this credit card. If this is the correct zip , we suggest you call the credit card's issuing bank to ensure they have your correct billing zip."

when I try my card with the made up postal code.

unfortunately this happens to random people, as yet nobody is sure why, I used a Natwest credit Card (RBS) and it worked fine.

If you get that error then it is the pre-paid route, guide here -: http://support.unblock-us.com/custom...o-i-set-it-up-

Just been on the uk Netflix site and I see a hell of a lot of new content has been added. I wasn't that bothered before that I couldnt access it on my bravia smart tv but a lot of tv shows and films are now on there that I want to watch.

I just want answers on if and when a netflix update will be available?

Just found this on the Sony Discussion boards and thought it may be of interest.

The following is taken from the Netflix Support Discussion Thread at sony.co.uk and posted by catmambo who is very helpful on this site.

"Hi

Just thought I would offer a bit of clarity around the Netflix discussion threads that keep popping up.

Is Netflix coming to Sony devices?

Hopefully, no date confirmed as yet, but as you'd expect, we'd like to launch it on Sony Entertainment Network/BRAVIA Internet Video as soon as we can.

Which devices will it be compatible with and will it be backported?

Not clear yet. We look to backport all services to as many devices as possible, but its not always technical possible to do. Whilst it is available on US devices at present, its not yet clear if Netflix would want to re-use the old interface or launch with a new interface, which makes things much harder to backport.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer below - mindful there are areas I cannot discuss with NDA's in place etc..

Thanks

Just managed to get Netflix US working on my Bravia. Have to admit to being impressed with the range of content available. Also like that there are full series of shows available, rather than select seasons or half seasons.

I'm guessing the UK content will be rather more spartan

You need to have a US Netflix account to get it to work with your Bravia device.

Hi, anyone know how to get Netflix US to work on Sony Media Player, not expecting Sony to port the Netflix version onto the Sony 100 (still waiting for Channel 4 on demand service), any advice gratefully received

According to SonyUK Facebook page they've got some exciting announcements planned within the next 2 months.
I'm hoping these announcements may include all or at least one of Netflix, ITV player or 4OD.
Not holding my breath, but look forward to seeing what these announcements are.

Yep already know that, it's just nice to know that I don't have to set up a US account to make it work on my player and have to pay UnblockUS for the privelage when I can just use the UK account I already have.

Things are not looking too hopefull

“Edd Uzzell
Just an update on this - the challenge we face is simply that Netflix have a new system for Europe and content is encoded and secured in an entirely different way to the US service, thus its not as easy as just copy/pasting the US portal into the UK, which is what I had been hoping! We are working with Netflix engineering teams to understand if anything can be done to solve this issue and backport the service to existing devices.

As soon as I have any news, I'll let you know more.”

Well, it wont take too long with a Wireshark log to see if the US and UK netflix services really are based on different technologies or very different.

It's been officially confirmed by Sony that Netflix will not appear on pre-2012 Bravia devices
You can however still get US Netflix if you take the steps to use Unblock-US and a US Netflix account.

If this is True, which I suspect it is, though I have not seen a link to anything looking official.

And Sony wonders why they are having a bad time, consumers now expect for anything reasonable expensive will have some kind of software update support.

The Koreans are giving consumers what they want.

This appears to be the confirmation ..

Hi all

Quote:
“Its been determined that unfortunately Netflix cannot be back-ported to 2010 and 2011 devices due to the technical and DRM related issues as I have outlined already. Both sets of engineering teams evaluated this for an extended period of time and assuming that some kind of simple patch won't suddenly be discovered, no further work is being carried out on this topic.

I wholey appreciate this is disappointing for many of you, however every technical angle was examined and on this occasion it was simply determined that is wasn't going to be possible.”

From the Netflix discussion thread on the official Sony forum - last but one post.

Has anyone with a Netflix UK or Irish account, managed to log onto Netflix US on their Bravia, using a VPN service? Or is it only possible by setting up a Netflix US account? I can see Netflix US on my Bravia when I use Overplay VPN but don't have an account yet to try it.

I also assume that the Overplay or UnblockUS DNS option won't work for streaming on the Bravia, as it's actual internet content is geographically based.

Thanks for any input.

unblock-us, in conjunction with a US netflix account, will let you use their service normally.
