All-Stars rumours aside (we have them every year), the castings aren't as expensive for CBS as you might think.
I'm pretty sure local bars/restaurants/nightclubs pay CBS to host casting nights at their establishments, which probably covers travel expenses for the hapless producers and interns.
Not to mention former BB competitor turned casting guru Erika who always multitasks - find bodies for shows
and personal romance.
These casting sessions are always pooled into other programmes as you know. Some can apply for Survivor and wind up on Big Brother (April of Ollie non-fame), some apply for Big Brother and end up on Survivor (wasn't this the case with both Cirie and the hyper-irritating Sash?) with the remnants collecting at the bottom of the Amazing Race trough.
Long story short, they tend to do full castings each year even when they plan on bringing back overexposed prior competitors.
It's not expensive for them.
