Problems with my 3D set up
Eventually talked my girlfriend in letting me invest in a 3D TV and Home Cinema. I bought a Sony Bravia KDL-46HX823 with Sony TDG-BR250 3D glasses. Home Cinema wise I picked up the Sony BDV-E280. We bought Thor on 3D yesterday and after I'd set it up and stuck it on, it started off 3D but then the Active 3D glasses sort of shut off after a minute or so, then it popped on again and did this intermittently so I had to stop it and come online and try to see what was up and if there was a solution. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the set up and there was nothing online.
The only possible reason I could think was it maybe was losing signal with the 3D transmitter? The sofa isn't very far from the tv so I hope it isn't that or else I'll be developing square eyes ![]() Anybody got any ideas what the issue could be? |

Nah, they were brand new and I did try charging them but it didn't solve it.
Cheers though. |

Is your set up detecting 3D content automatically?
If so see if you can turn off the automatic 3D selection and turn the 3D on manually. |

Take the glasses back to the store and try them with their TV sets. If your bought them on-line then go to any Sony dealer who should be more than happy to let you see if it is your glasses which are defective.

Does anybody know what the recommended distance you should sit away from a 3DTV. I ask because when we first got it theres basic 3D content like trailers etc you can watch to test out the glasses. Obviously we was sitting very near to the screen (its new, I was obviously excited!) and I had no problems with them. its only when we got the 3D blu ray player and tried watching while sitting on the sofa that it started doing it. I'd say the sofa was 10/11ft from the screen, hope it isnt this as I hardly want to drag the tv forward every time I want to see a film and have to be 6ft away... |

[b]By switch off I mean the films 3D then the glasses sort of click off and the film is blurry then they'd click back on. For an example, when I started having the problems I turned on the laptop to search online

For an example, when I started having the problems I turned on the laptop to search online, while it was loading I noticed as the glasses clicked off the laptop screen changed colour, the same when they clicked back on. (I say clicked on just as a term, they were 'ON' constantly as the green light was always flashing).
Most films say at the begining "Please put on your 3D glasses now" Because with active shutter glasses the glasses are supposed to react to the 3D signals coming from the TV. I would try to find out if there's a setting where you can change your 3D detection from automatic to manual. Does the manual not say anything about this? I think you'd need to try to find this out anyway if only to just eliminate it as the cause of the problem. |

I should'nt imagine that the glasses would need to click off then back on again while watching trailers or a 3D film and as for the message "Please put your glasses on now" is a cinema thing isnt it. I'm assuming your 3DTV is "active 3D". You should PM Nigel Goodwin as he's a Sony man.
