Buyer Beware the LG 42lw540u
I wouldn't recommend this TV unless you can ask for a demo of the sound from the headphone socket.
There is an audible crackle on low level sound from the head phone socket, this was also confirmed on a 47in version of the same model. |

Frankly, I let it lie because I intended using it primarily as a computer monitor (and have hardly used it as a TV) and... life is too short. Still, if it was being used primarily as a TV it might have hacked me off more, particularly also if it had been an expensive 47" model like yours! |

I have an LG M227WDP which does something similar.

But I use headphones 24/7 and just couldn't ignore the crackling no matter how hard I tried. I was disappointed with LG's response, which was to replace the main board, and when I still had the problem they tried to blame my headphones, even though I told them I had tried 2 different pairs, and it had also happened on a 47in model in the shop, so it is obviously a design problem with that particular model. |
