As I have a trip in a couple of weeks I bought mine from John Lewis a week or so ago for a bit more.
The machine is wonderful. I wanted to test the slingbox functions and couldn't be bothered to go to Wetherspoons to use the wifi and called their customer service. They're in Amsterdam and immediately agreed to test it. He told me what was on each channel. Great service.
I have full Sky and if it wasn't for Atlantic we'd jack it in and save £74 per month.
Mine came today, love the look of it, nice build quality
Few niggles, when recording two channels at the same time, you cant flick between the two by pressing down on the remote, you have to go to the guide and press on either one.
Also when pressing guide, no option to get rid of the categories, so it takes two presses to get to all channels
Something you can do on the humax, im sure echostar could sort these easily.
I got my Echostar yesterday via Amazon, bit of a faff as it was guaranteed to be delivered before 1pm on Monday and rocked up at half ten on Tuesday morning, got my shipping costs back after speaking to customer services.
Plugged box in, it started up and updated and have had no issues. Picture quality is great even on the SD channels, way better than they were on Sky. A good purchase at this price and way faster to do everything than my mate's Humax Foxsat HDR.
ive noticed the buzz when in standby, its not silent, like the hard drive is turning, the humax was silent, read somebody elses comment about the noise as well

Thats right, but in this mode I don't think you can't use the sling functionality and it also takes longer to start up. Neither of these things may bother you. Mine is admittedly in the living room, but is practially silent so the longer startup time bothered me more than the fan noise.
I've just bought one to replace my main sky+ box. I just couldn't wait any longer for Humax to update their slow box (which I also have).
My first observation - if you watch the slingbox on your PC - does it go via the internet (WAN), even when it's on the same network (LAN)? - because it says my video speed is 8MB, which is my WAN speed, not my LAN speed.

Had a few missed recording with mine recently, countdown yesterday, daybreak and bbc breakfast this morning.

Have you updated to the latest firmware 121R released at the end of January, it hasn't been transmitted over air yet? If you have you need to tell Echostar about any problems you are still having with it.

Yes , updated the day it was released., also bad lipsync issues, done a few factory resets, still same.
Same as with the humax, these boxes arent perfect ,but 99% of the time they are brilliant,
Trying the Echostar before I decide to sell my Samsung SMT-S7800.Pleased with the unit so far apart from having to pump the volume up,far beyond what I did with the Samsung.Tried different settings to no avail.Any ideas?
