After much consideration I am deciding this year to support Sam and Alexandra.

Last night I was really surprised at how well Sam skated and at how good the partnership between the two of them are.

So I decided to create this Appreciation Thread of Support

Yayyy me too! Absolutely loved their performance and Sam's sheer enthusiasm Seriously cannot wait to see what they bring next week!

I am as well. Sam seems like such a sweetie and already has a great partnership with Alexandra. Really enjoyed his performance, I hope he does well.

Good to see some like minded supporters

My favourites last night, narrowly beating out Chico and Jodeyne. At last Alex has a partner who not only wasn't too bad on the ice but whose bounce and joie de vivre matches her own performance style. Here's hoping Sam is the j****** of the series!

So glad to see Sam and Alex getting some love. They are definitely my favorite couple this year.

Sam was just the sort of contestant I like: not too good, but better than anyone expected, and with the potential to win a lot of people over. And I agree that he and Alex seem to enjoy being partnered together, they both looked really happy and comfortable with each other.

Agreed - in Series 5 I supported Kieron and Brianne - not the best and not the woest, but one of the ones who had the best partnership and tried so hard and you could see the imrovement week on week.

Have to say when it was the final 3 and 1 was left to be called kinda thought Sam may have been bottom 2... mainly due to people thinking he'll probably be safe and Leila and Corey had the novelty factor - glad I was proved wrong

Agree completely, he's also one of the few this year that doesn't have any kind of sports or dance background.

ive been a fan since pop idol 2- 2002- and im so pleased sam is such a hit! SAM AND ALEX FOR THE WIN!

I'll join this thread as well.

I'm very worried about Sam & Mark splitting the vote though. Which ever of them is nearer the bottom of the leader board (possibly Mark) will get the vote to save them, leaving the one nearer the middle of the leader board unsafe. People will think they are safe and so not vote, Where as of course they won't be safe in fact far from it.

I've had the same thought (and i'm guessing Mark will get the lionshare of the vote) - however hopefully Sam will have got some other fans from his routine last week

Also as there's 13 next week I think they will probably both be fine - I'm guessing Corey or Rosemary will probably be gone

Loving Sam - I don't profess to know about skating but I think he was undermarked. For a first skate that was really good. Shame the lovely Mark can't skate as well as he could sing (I seem to remember him having a really good voice and I really wanted him to beat Michelle Mcmanus).

My daughter said that Alexandra looks like Thing 1/Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat!

Looking forward to their performance tonight... hopefully they get some good marks

They're also my favourites! I did a Sky freebet on Sam before the show - I just had the feeling his odds were too low for what he could do. I really thought he would do better than expected - his odds are still quite low but I thought he was brilliant and I think he could go far.

For reality TV in the last few months, I supported Harry Judd on Strictly from the start and he won, Dougie on I'm A Celebrity from the start and he won, as well as Frankie on Big Brother from the start who is still in and still could win. I hope Sam keeps going too!

I can't watch the show live so I was just wondering how Sam and Alex did tonight?

They got 16.0 [last week they got 15.5]

And are currently 3rd on the leaderboard... but the show is only half way through so could all change I guess
