It seems that they could already be moving on from "On Your Radar" as both Rochelle and Una tweeted today that they are heading into the studio.

What kind of music do you think they'll try and go for this time? I predict them trying to come up with something similar to "Chasing Lights".

Ok, I love The Saturdays but do we need another thread? Couldn't this have gone into one of the other threads on them?

IMO On Your Radar is fairly similar to the format of Chasing Lights - uptempos, midtempos, ballads.

Personally I want them to work with Xenomania more now. Get Ready, Get Set and All Fired Up are brilliant tracks. I'd like them to do some more 'poppy' stuff with them though. Nothing too obviously similar to Girls Aloud, but still having the electropop elements and 'kooky' lyrics that are typical Xenomania. I'd love to see them have tracks in the vein of Call The Shots, Can't Speak French, Girl Overboard, The Promise, The Loving Kind, Live In The Country, Untouchable etc.

But recording in the studio doesn't necessarily mean they're recording for a new album - could be recording for a B Side, a re-release, maybe even a Greatest Hits. If they are recording new material for a new album, then they need to bring back the colour image they had going on with Chasing Lights but still keeping the whole 'grown up look' they've gone for this era (I still think the All Fired Up single cover should have been the album cover for On Your Radar - it was perfect!).

They have the material, the look and all the potential needed to blow up and be bigger than they are... they just lack public connection. People know of them, know who they are, press and the media lap them up but the public wouldn't buy their records or instantly be able to recognise a Saturdays song. That's the problem. Not sure how they change that though. I mean, if Rihanna had put out On Your Radar it'd probably be double platinum now.

Just because they're in the studio doesn't mean it's for a new album.

Could be a B-Side for a new single?
Could be new tracks for a re-release?
Could be new tracks to launch the album in Europe?
Could be new tracks for a Greatest Hits package?

There's a reason i put a question mark after the title, it was to indicate that they might possibly be recording new songs for a new album.
Also, im a forum member, therefore im entitled to make any new thread i want (as long as it isnt rude obv).

My money's on a new album. If they were doing a Greatest Hits album, then we would have had them mentioning it since he release of OYR.

I think a lot of those are more likely than a new album already.

Rochelle said in an interview last year that they want to put a new album out in 2012. probably getting as much recording in now before Una has her baby and Una & Rochelle have their weddings

They're also want to get as much studio time in before they're dropped.

I think a massive problem that the album flopped was because all the promo was 'All Fired Up... ' e.g. the tour, flips etcetc. The tour and promo should have been named after the album, or subsequently the album being named All fired up (which seems like the most obviously option - the most successful single after all).

I think they're most likely recording a BSide, HOPEFULLY to get ready get set!

Probably a new single for a rushed Greatest Hits before they get dropped.

Wow....their record label must have been given extra money at the bank, because I can't understand why anyone would keep wasting time and money paying for this group, they haven't even had any #1s at all, and their album sales are even worse.

To be fair, I think their last album flopped because they booked the tour two weeks after the album release. They couldn't promote the album because they were in tour rehearsals! WTF?

It's quite clear they're given more choices because they consistently sell singles and get a lot of endorsement opportunities that more than likely covered the cost of the album.

I don't know why people think they'll be dropped.. In the eyes of the record label they Know they're a singles rger than album group... And unlike parade and mini viva, still have a rather large fan base.

they sell singles. All Fired Up was their best first week sales to date, it was just in a tough week. and their songs get alot of radio airplay and TV and stuff, so money is made on the rights to them. they had 2 TV documentaries and do loads of endorsements so loads of money is coming in.

You're acting like they're some sort of 500,000+ per single selling artist, they struggle to get 200,000 per single!

I can name only 4 of their 11 singles that sold less than 200k.....

Their average singles sales are actually higher than Girls Aloud.....

It's only the albums that struggle.

I'm in no way acting like they sell THAT many singles, don't be stupid.

But they sell more than enough to keep themselves going, once you have to scrap the release and give it away for free (sugababes) then you've got a problem!

If they are already working on a new album, this bodes well for some new material by the Autumn. By then Una will have finished her maternity leave and have time to partake in promos. After the last 4 years, I simply cannot imagine an Autumn without a good Saturdays single anymore!

I'll be (hopefully) graduating in October so this new album would be my graduation year album! Oh and if I get into the postgrad I want I'll be starting that so it would be for both my postgrad degree and my graduation!!

They should work with Xenomania more. I hated All Fired Up at first, but that Xenomania spark just drew me in and I loved the song ever since. I'm sure they have some brilliant songs in their back catalogue just waiting to be used.

I know you have already described Up as a special fave song when you started at Uni. It seems that their regular Autumn releases all represent a new year at Uni for you!
