The freebie became the fastest downloaded track off Amazon ever....

The freebie also became the Sugababes first track to "shift" 200k copies since About You Now.....

I'd hardly call that a problem.....

I'm sorry, where's this information actually come from?

And that's because it was a freebie. Like 200k will have paid to have bought it. So yes, it is a problem.

And not really, because most of them would have still bought it.... You only have to see reviews from people on YouTube and Vevo and other video sites to see how many actually liked it.....

My Mum thought she had to pay for it when she downloaded it.....

You know im surprised they offered it for free, they had done lots of promo and people seemed to really like it, i predicted a low top ten entry (maybe 7 or 8) which would have made it a success, i know lots of friends who were saying they really liked the song.

Could you link me to the press release please? It seems like Amazon wouldn't give out that kind of information.

If something is free people will have it. Take the metro newspaper, people pick it up because it's free. You change it to 20p and people will stop picking it up because it's not free anymore.

The point is that most of that '200k' will not have bought it. They will have only downloaded it because it's free.

I shall find that link for you indeed.

I downloaded it cos it was free. I would have never bought it. You must be deluded if you think the amount of download from a FREE song would have any relation to it if it were to be up for sale.

The Saturdays don't need to sell albums. Album sales havne't been how pop acts make money for about 4 years.

The Saturdays tour ALOT without huge stage shows, they make money frm that, from endless sponsorships and from corporate gigs.

Same reason Sugababes are still with thier management despite selling a total of 160,000 albums since 2008. Because they get paid between £12-20,000 for each corporate gig and they do ALOT.

McFlys last album to sell more than 150,000 copies was back in 2005 (Radio:Active sold about 50k!) but they bring money in elsewhere and will *never* get dropped.

So how many do you assume it would have sold had it not been free?????

McFly own their own record label now.....

The Saturdays get £25,000 for corporate/nightclub/party gigs.

I wonder if doing a Scooter type album next would be a good idea for The Saturdays?

E.g.
Disc One - 15 new songs
Disc Two:
01 If This Is Love
02 Up <radio edit>
03 Issues
04 Just Can't Get Enough <radio mix>
05 Work <phil tan radio edit>
06 Wordshaker
07 One Shot <starsmith mix>
08 Forever Is Over
09 Ego <single version>
10 Here Standing
11 Missing You
12 Higher <feat. flo rida>
13 Notorious
14 All Fired Up
15 My Heart Takes Over <rokstone remix>

Although they could almost fill a Greatest Hits album, I think putting one out would only spur people to say "did they even have that many hits??!", but putting out a Singles Collection along side a brand new album, for around £8.99-£10.99 could sell well?

I thin it's a good idea. It might get more people interested as there are some who like their songs but not enough to buy a full album and also get new fans interested in their older music.
