..."Oksana (Grishuk) is without doubt the best female skater ever". Well, she is perhaps the fastest, or one of the fastest, but best ever female skater ? She is an ice-dancer, not a solo skater.
I think Jayne Torvill or Tessa Virtue could rival Oksana for the best female ice-dancer. Oksana is the only one to win Olympic Gold twice, but Tessa Virtue might well equal of even surpass that, and it could be argued that Jayne Torvill might have won 2 golds if T & D had competed in the 1988 Olympics (instead of in 1994, when they were somewhat disadvantaged by being about 10 years older than the main opposition). |

Grishuk fully exposed on SportsBody. Is she the most exposed female skater ever ?

Grischuk is something of a b**ch in my book given her penchant for spoken for men. She is not the best skater ever- she is the best drama queen but that is hardly something to be proud of.
Her activities are well documented - a bit of googling will explain. I seem to remember her receiving a punch in the face from a fellow ice dancer when she allegedly tried her luck with that skaters partner Evgeny Platov must have the patience of a saint in putting up with that madam. Her reputation is far from perfect- seems to like spoken for men And one of her Olympic Gold medals is decidedly dubious - given that she and Evgeny got it because there were four Old Soviet Union bloc judges on the panel in Lillehammer. No rats to be smelled there then

Grishuk said Platov suddenly deserted her after they had won Olympic Gold for the second time, just before they could begin to make some money out of their partnership by turning professional. Platov went off to partner Usova, whilst Grishuk then partnered Usova's ex-partner, Zhulin. Usova slammed Grishuk's head into a bar where she was drinking.
I suppose Grishuk might have stripped to make some money, if she was short. I rate both Tessa Virtue and Jayne Torvill ahead of Grishuk in terms of best female ice-dancer. Grishuk is the fastest, that is her main quality. |

Took him long enough to see sense though And if Usova did slam Grishuk's head then really giving that Grishcuk had wrecked her marriage while not condoning what she did I can understand if it is true |

Nicole Bobek slapped Grishuk and Anjelika Krylova slashed her arm with her skate in what she later claimed was an accident, all in arguments over men.

Her life-story would make a great movie, like Nympho on Ice.

I do love how incestuous the skating world is and it's a great sport for gossip. Far more interesting than footballers antics with their tedious WAGS that we get force fed in this country.
As for Grischuk, she was the best of her era but i don't think she's taken the sport to a new level which Jayne & Tessa have IMO. |

Grishuk has apparently done Dance On Ice, the Russian version of Dancing On Ice, and won it once, then third place another time. But I don't think Karen would allow her on our British version, given her reputation.

I think Karen would threaten to walk off the show and I doubt Jayne and Chris would be too chuffed to see her either bearing the mind some highly dubious judging was responsible for giving her and Platov the gold at Lillehamnmer in 94 and Jayne and Chris's expense. Grischuk and Platov did not deserve to win it - they need the help of iffy judging

As an ice-dancer she was so fast it is hard to tell if she had any finesse at all. The only routine where her speed was really beneficial was Grishuk and Platov's 1995 Quickstep, which is actually very good. Tessa Virtue can also be very fast, but is not so all the time invariably, and you can see the finesse in a lot of her skating.
