There's a twist in two weeks time!
According to ITV, there's a twist coming up for Dancing on Ice on Sunday 29th January: Quote:
Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley are back to chase away the winter blues with Dancing on Ice on ITV. This week sees a brand new twist, and for the 12 remaining celebrities, everything changes. The competition is hotting up and skating legends Torvill and Dean have given our celebrities their toughest challenge yet. At the end of the show lines open for you to vote to save your favourite celebrity from the skate off.
What's interesting is that the performance show that night will be shown between 18.45-20.30, which is way shorter than the 18.10 start time it's having this week even though there's only one fewer contestant. I'm thinking the twist is they're gonna make the 12 celebrities skate in pairs, so there's going to be 6 routines that night! Has that ever happened before?!Heres the link to the quote above: http://www.itv.com/presscentre/danci...5/default.html |

I'd rather they didn't bother with twists.

Oh, Lord. Well, I certainly hope the twists are better than last year's, which were pretty awful.

I had really hoped that there would be no more silly twists this year, seems like wishful thinking though. If those timings are correct I'm struggling to see how they will fit 12 couples in, unless the twist is something to do with that. Surely they won't do what SamuelW thinks?

Sigh, I thought we were done with the twists. I hope they aren't going to ruin what's shaping up to be a great series.
Did they learn nothing from the epic failure that was the "Ice Pick"? |

Well depends what the twist is - if its a skating based one it could be good but if it's a voting twist like the Ice Pick then that's not so good. TBH I would be surprised if it's that again at this stage and the Press Release indicates that it's a brand new twist. I think if they are going to use that one again it's more likely to be used later in the competition.
I wonder if they may do a vote for your least favourite either next week or at some point later in the series though. Don't think I'd like that - a bit too Big Brother for me. |

it wasn't actually a failure though?
However, people on these shows are savvy nowadays. Had the twist been used last year when Laura & Vanilla Ice were in the skate off I seriously doubt anyone would have voted to save Vanilla Ice over Laura. They would know that it would make them look bad in the eyes of the public and likely scupper any chances they had of winning. |

Yesterday, I said the twists were a bad thing but I looked back at last year and the series went like this:
Weeks 1 & 2:Having reviewed last year's twists, it was only the ice pick and calling the first two rounds "qualifiers" that I didn't like. The other changes (the team challenge, the solo skate, the showcase dance and the skills test) were all actually for the better. |

Perhaps it's THE twist. On ice. Let's see them mark for use of blades and speed across the ice on that one!

I'm sure scores were out of 10.0 last year - we only had Jason, Emma and Robin
![]() The week they did the three skills, didn't Sam concentrate on the headbanger instead to try and pull ahead again ![]() Brianne held her arm out to save her head hitting the ice

I liked the team challenge and enjoyed watching the routines - hopefully they'll do it again but just mark each routine out of 10 instead of doubling the scores. |

The twist is Philip Schofield will only talk about twitter for the whole duration of the show and there will be no skating as the skating just gets in the way of all the hyesterically funny twitter anecdotes

My guess was right! ![]() Quote:
The twist that Phillip Schofield mentioned on Sunday night’s Dancing on Ice has today been revealed. http://www.imediamonkey.com/dancing-...wist-revealed/
Named ‘The Dual’, the twist will see the remaining twelve celebrities paired up – based on their place on the leader board this past week. Each pair will skate onto the ice together with their professional partners, then each celebrity will perform a routine. Both celebrities will skate to the same song, and will then skate over to the judges. Judges; Louie Spence, Robin Cousins and Katarina Witt will then choose which of the two celebrities they would like to send through to next week’s show and which they’ll be putting up for the public vote. After all six pairs have skated, six celebrities will be immune and six up for the public vote. The two celebrities with the lowest votes will perform again in the skate-off, and the judges will decide who will be leaving the show and who will remain. The pairs are as follows: Matthew Wolfenden and Jorgie Porter, Andy Whyment and Rosemanry Conley, Heidi Range and Charlene Tilton, Jennifer Ellison and Sébastian Foucan, Chico and Sam Nixon and Corey Feldman and Chemmey Alcott. |
