iPad 2 Memory

I have downloaded iTunes to my laptop and transferred one album to my iPad 2. When I check the memory for iTunes on my iPad 2 it shows 152 mb. Is this just for the one albumn. What I'm worried about is that I only purchased a 8 gb iPad 2 and if every album is 152 mb I will soon fill it up. Does the iPad 2 compress it further.

Sorry it's a 16gb iPad 2. And the music icon for the memory shows 152 mb

Music tracks are usually around 1mb/minute (although it depends on the quality level they were made at).

16Gb gives you enough for about 4000 songs.

152Mb for one album sounds like they've been encoded quite highly. Looking at one of my playlists I've got 40 songs for 140Mb but they're only encoded at 128bit as I find that's perfectly good enough.

So it's a balance between quality and quantity but unless you've got B&O speakers and headphones, in my opinion, there really isn't a huge difference in bit rates.

Thanks pumazuma

How do I put the cd on to iTunes on my laptop at the lower quality that you used. When I downloaded iTunes on to my llaptop. I wasn't given an option

- Open iTunes on the laptop.

- Go to "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Import Settings".

- Make sure that "Import Using" is set to use "AAC Encoder" (better quality than MP3 for the same bitrate).

- Under "Setting", you can choose "High Quality (128kbps)", "iTunes Plus" (which is 256kbps) or "Custom" (and enter your own "Stereo Bit Rate").

- See what it is currently set to, and try a lower setting. If it's on "iTunes Plus" (256kbps), you could drop it down to "High Quality (128kbps)" or try a "Custom" value in between, such as 192kbps.

- Import (rip) a CD.

All music purchased from iTunes is 256kbps "iTunes Plus", but when I rip my own CDs I tend to use 192kbps as a compromise between quality and file size.
