I know these questions have probably been dealt with but I'm having trouble trawling through the threads.
I have a sony prs 600 but it appears to be on the blink recently (keeps saying battery empty even after being charged) so I was thinking about replacing it with a kindle.
Now I know with the kindle you are limited to buying books from amazon but I was wondering how it functions in terms of your own files. For example on my sony I stored my microsoft work essays and free academic books I found online.
With the kindle does everything have to be in mobi format? Can you put on pdf files? And if not does that mean that all files on it must be only those which are purchased?
Any advice would be appreciated. I have recently been annoyed by my first attempt to buy an ebook only to discover the whole sony protected page issue so I'm wary about buying a sony again.
