Can anyone shed any light on my iplayer problem. iplayer is fine on all the PCs and SONY TV in the house except for one laptop.

Radio is fine but whenever a TV show is selected it comes up with 'insufficient bandwidth to stream this programme'. Youtube videos play fine.

Thanks.
Danny.

Clue is in the question methinks. What class of Wi-fi is it? If it's B or maybe a malfunctioning adapter / bad driver.

Youtube bitrates are well below that of iPlayer, especially HD.

Try the laptop on a wired connection - patch cable to the router. That should rule out a software problem.

Check the wi-fi signal strength indicator. It could be location if you are in one particular place when you try to stream. I'd say this is less likely, as you've probably already moved to see if you can get more bandwidth.

A full signal B adaptor should still be able to stream iPlayer comfortably, but other stuff such as encryption overheads can quickly eat into the available bandwidth as well as other processes using the adaptor.

Thanks for the reply shhftw. I should've mentioned that i have connected said laptop to the router via ethernet and same problem occurs.

Maybe there is something a-miss in my settings but I haven't a clue what it might be.

Do you have nVidia Active Armour Firewall or software firewall?

nVidia network driver can be a pain. You'll have to uninstall it then reinstall and opt out of the Active Armour part of the setup, don't worry drivers will still be installed just not the active armour bit.

Think it may be easier not to worry about it and just use either the main PC or the TV.

Thanks for your input though.
