Because he is an extra and not an actor.

He did have a small role where he cut off his hair for charity. I think it was for Mark but I may be wrong.

I'd love it if these two got together.

because the casts are on such huge ridiculous amounts of money as a salary they get every single storyline and the extras just get to walk around.

so in soap real life 1 character can be married divorced pregnant have an affair suffer a disease all in one year.
they want to reduce a few salaries of the long standing characters (bab windsor ken barlow ian beale im sure their all high earners) and introduce some more interesting characters and spread out storylines between the whole cast, that would stop an awful lot of characters been slandered as wooden/pointless or crap actors. They just dont get the chance to show their skills because they are given crap storylines. so the ian beales whos been in the cast 20 yrs can get married yet again and earn his huge salary

better still add a few more sets

Yes since it is a different job.

I saw a documentary programme about a Casualty extra who has been in the series the entire run. On this particular day he was a 'featured extra' - he had to do something as specified in the script as opposed to walk down a corridor or sit having a coffee in the canteen - and therefore would be paid at a higher rate than usual for an extra.

The thing he had to do was be stopped in a corridor by a main character, handed an X-ray, and be given an instruction. He still had no dialogue.

I know! I felt strange even typing that as it does sound very strange. I didn't note the title of the programme at the time but a quick google search suggests it was probably 'The Real Extras' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1013870/. I also found this site which talks of pay rates http://www.findextrawork.co.uk/actingextrawork.php.

The guy from Casualty was interviewed a few times and they showed quite a bit about the show's production.

Wow I thought you had made a mistake or something, is it an educational video they show at underperforming drama schools on careers day?

It would be nice for them to make them a real part of the cast. They have history and them as a couple would be amazing!

No 'The Real Extras' was a cable series. Made in the UK obviously but it has been screened in Australia too.
