I can't get any of the links to YouTube that are posted in Digital Spy to run when I try to access them directly from a DS page on my IPad ?

A guess as I don't have an iPad: Could it be because the YouTube videos are using Flash?

Try going here and enabling HTML5.

What links do you mean?

Any links I have clicked on my iPad play fine.

youtube links work fine for me in DS, can you point us to one that you say does not work?

On my iPad they open in the separate YouTube app. Not sure if this is standard practice however. But not yet found one that doesn't work.

Basically any time there is an embedded video it comes up with the thumbnail and the play symbol but when I click it it just flickers once then doesn't do anything. Clicking the YouTube logo does the same.

Example: the white stripes video here doesn't play on my iPad http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/s1...ut-single.html

I tried the html5 link posted and I saw I was enrolled in it so I tried opting out and theres no change.

Meanwhile, on a £65 Chinese knock off tablet, somebody somewhere is playing this stuff with no issues.

The wonders of Flash compatibility

Talking seriously, shouldn't it at least open the video or give you the option of opening it with youtube app?

This plays back no problem on my iPad 2.

I didn't do anything special, just touched the link and it played.

That's because that's a video of him having problems, not a link to the video he says won't open.

Ahh lol

I tried the said video and It won't play for me either, it seems to be the way DS has embedded it as embedded YouTube videos from all other sites play.

Also DS own embedded videos that they mainly use work fine.

I tried in a different browser such as puffin and it played in full screen fine.

Seems to be an error in the way DS is embedding videos, the iPad doesn't like.

Videos embedded the usual way using iFrame

Code:
<iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html"
width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W-Q7RMpINVo"
frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>
Play back perfectly fine on the iPad.
