Might have been advisable. Although, of course, it's just well thought through speculation rather than fact!

It's all speculation - as far as I'm aware you're the only one on this thread who knows how it really pans out, and you've been very restrained. (Thank you)

Interesting article on how this series of Sherlock has proved divisive. http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/sherlock...-casual-viewer

I don't disagree that there has been a shift in emphasis towards relationships in this current series - although not as much as people seem to claim - but how else do we expect the characters to grow and develop?

Would we be happy if the pair just kept on solving one crime after another in their usual fashion? I'd contend that would get samey very quickly, which is why we're getting this shift now.

One final suggestion. Does it not seem reasonable that this new relationship triangle that has been established between Sherlock, John and Mary might somehow become significant in the finale? Like any episodic writer, Moffat and Gatiss have been setting us up for something big, and for those who have been watching carefully (a rough knowledge of the original stories also helps) there have been enough clues to make an educated guess as to what that might be.”

I definitely agree with you. There are reasons why these two episodes have been relationship driven - both in terms of friendships and family. The writers know where they are going with this whereas most of us don't until we see next week's finale.

FWIW I have thoroughly enjoyed all that I have seen in this series so far, and it is fast shaping up to be my favourite series of Sherlock.

I saw the red stripe and immediately thought it was another soldier too. But then I realised that barracks wouldn't be as posh as Mycroft's abode.

Which soldier died btw?

Better explanation on the blog now for how the stabbings worked, worth a look.

I LOVE SHERLOCK!

Sorry.

Yes, I wasn't suggesting they couldn't get access. My point was related to whether they already knew what they would want to include in series 3, at the time that they were making series 2. If they had already decided on the three alternative fall scenarios, then it would have been much easier and cheaper to film all the scenarios when filming series 2. If they waited until they were filming series 3, then it might indicate that they had not previously decided to include the alternatives. Not conclusive, of course.

BTW, where does Mycroft live, exactly? It looked like the inside of Buckingham Palace!

"This is something of a curate's egg, as, though the prose is better I don't come on here to read about weddings."

Do you think someone's been reading the comments on DS?

Brilliant, I agree.

...and as someone else has already noticed, it could be a reference to someone in the room as he made his speech.

Mainly, though, as it was a cut away used during his speech, I never saw it as needing to be real - it was in Sherlock's imagination (like the exploding houses or parliament), so didn't need to have actually occurred in real life.

I've enjoyed all the series of Sherlock I just take it for what it is a t.v show with two actors I like, same goes for the RDJ films as well.

That text above Mary, when Sherlock first met her. As well as 'liar' does anyone remember the other words? I thought I saw either 'controlling' or 'manipulate' or something of that sort.

Have they changed the writers? This show has seriously deteriorated.

I put this in a spoiler just in case, scene at about 1 hour 11 mins in..
Spoiler
I noticed something. When John and Sherlock struggle to remember the number of the colonel's room, Mary shouts that its 207, but the room number is 267, i'm not sure if its a actual mistake or red herring as they knew the room despite the wrong number
just for the record I have enjoyed series 3, and I reckon episode 3 will be a corker, I too love Lars

Just watched the first two series for the first time. Much stronger episodes, though I didn't care for the portrayals of Adler or Moriarty.

The only other ones I can remember are 'cat lover' and 'secret tattoo'!

They never did like each other much: "Anderson, don't talk out loud, you lower the IQ of the whole street." ”

I agree that Sherlock's explanation of the fall was false. It was either Sherlock pretending to be dead, OR the dead look-alike "pretending" to be Sherlock, but not both. My money's on there just being a dead look-alike on the pavement, while Sherlock drove away in the back of the laundry van.

Also, according to Sherlock's account, Mycroft had to persuade the gunmen targeting Watson to pull out. I don't understand why. Once Holmes is believed to be dead, Watson should have been safe anyway, so no need for Mycroft to do anything.

I will reserve judgement for series 3 until after Sunday. I do hope they will make longer series in the future.

Thanks all, especially for the handy link.

Looks like I imagined it then. I must have put my own connotation on the total of some of those words!

I loathe their version of Adler. Loathe it.
