Oh my, now I've been quoted in the DM too
:Elementary, my dear viewers! Sherlock fans believe a squash ball is the key to how the detective faked his own death "It's a question that has plagued Sherlock fans since the series finale aired nearly a fortnight ago. And a new theory has been suggested as to how the detective faked his own death in the incendiary Reichenbach Fall episode. One viewer believes that the innocuous clue which fans are told was planted earlier in the show is a simple squash ball. A Digital Spy website user wrote: 'A squash ball under the armpit stops the blood flow in the arm and makes it look like the pulse has stopped or is very slowed down. It’s a magician’s trick.' Sherlock was seen playing with the ball during a pensive moment prior to his final confrontation with arch-nemesis Moriarty..." They are making it look like the 'squash ball theory' is mine when it isn't. By the time I had posted it on 22nd January: a) it had already been mentioned on DS pretty early after the final episode, and b) the theory was all over the internet by then. My post has been taken out of context! I have been misquoted! I want to phone my lawyer! I don't like being famous! ![]() /drama queen Can't believe it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...be-series.html (Just above and below the fourth photo) I don't even watch the X Factor much and it was part of a (drunken) isolated rant against reality talent shows in general. So a warning to you all. Anything you write may be taken out of context by lazy journalists working for a paper you don't like and for absolutely no payment whatsoever. *hello Daily Mail if / when you're watching* |

Check Out The Jury!
Is it just me and I've finally gone round the bend but look at the juror in the court scene, sitting next to the forman of the jury. The one "who ate the wafer".
He's the double of Moriarty. He also mirrors the smirk that Moriarty gives when he calls no defence witnesses. Sherlock must have seen him because he is directly opposite the jury and comments on this man. The camera shows us a number of partial shots of this man. Is he Moriarty's brother? Does he have a brother? Was he the one on the roof? Will he return? Am I mad! |

Great series but 1 complaint.
Moriaty is just a wealthy bad criminal of reasonable intelligence. I want to see a criminal mastermind, a real match for Sherlock when the show returns not someone who just pays people off to do his dirty work and threatens people's families. |

And he is one step ahead of Sherlock, seemingly, so he must be as intelligent as him. |

?
I'm wondering for how long can Sherlock hide away before he's back in Baker Street.
One episode ?And will he troll about in his easily recognisable coat, when he's undercover ? |

The best method of disguise is to hide in plain sight, apparently.

He's the double of Moriarty. If metaphoric for Moriarty, that would turn, "Oh and they've just had tea and biscuits. Would you like to know who ate the wafer ?", into a teaser. |

I think we might see Lestrade demoted for using Sherlock, who the world now thinks is a fake and a kidnapper. And maybe John will have a dog and a girlfriend and be all domesticated... until Sherlock reappears to rescue them all from the doldrums
![]() The Empty House was the first story after the Final Problem (not counting Hounds) but somehow I can't see a reunion between John and Sherlock being quite so...nice

And his world will be turned upside down again. Though Sherlock will be oblivious of that. And, yes, I haven't got enough to think about. ![]()

Sherlock was 'dead' for 3 years in the books, wasn't he? Can't see how he'd manage that. Presumably he can't go abroad - his passport will've been cancelled, his bank account closed etc...Maybe he's living/staying with Molly?
(I still don't think he turned to Mycroft for help.) |

Using Sherlocks own
Moriarty Fakes his death to remove what he thinks is Sherlocks only way out, all you see is a Gun go off and Blood, both are fake, the Gun only makes a sound, the blood was from a blood pack that burst when he fell back. The only way out for Moriarty is if it wasn't him, but someone he convinced to undergo plastic surgery, learn his speech patterns and body language, and top himself, all with sufficient accuracy to convince Holmes. |

If I recall correctly, in the original books, Mycroft was indeed in the know about his brother's survival.

And poor Watson fainted when Holmes finallly revealed himself.
![]() ![]() I reckon that if Sherlock doesn't want to be noticed he should sit in any restaurant wanting to pay the bill. He'd be safe all day. |

I've not read the books, but however much concern Mycroft feels for Sherlock in this series, that concern is not reciprocated by Sherlock. and after the way Mycroft betrayed him to Moriaty, I just feel Sherlock wouldn't willing ask Mycroft for anything - he even mentions something along this line as him and John are running from the police.

I think that, as in the original, Mycroft is secretly helping his brother to ensure that Watson's reactions are clearly genuine, and will continue to help Holmes spend a year dead, not for tax reasons, but so that he can better deal with the three assassins and other criminals. I also think that, again, as in the original, Moriarty is quite dead, and will not return. Holmes, however, will return... as an old bookseller. |

Ah, but did Mycroft really betray Sherlock, or was it all part of a Sherlock/Mycroft plan to get Moriarty? |

If it was part of Mycroft's plan, did Sherlock know, or was Mycroft just using him to get Moriarty? |

Sherlock 'negotiated' access to Baskerville, maybe he'd agreed to help Mycroft at that point to find out whether Moriarty's key code existed. We see them release Moriarty at the end of that episode so it could tie in.
