Next time you want to critique a TV show here's some advice. Watch it first.”

I'll tell you what it means. It might be great for Moff and all his North London chums to back-slap every evening over spag bol and red wine at his latest clever-clever script full of bromance references and Tumblr gifs. "Oh look," they'll laugh, "all the little people not getting how you've gone all meta on them, bless. More money?"

Real people - not your chums in the TV reviewing industry - don't like him. Moff needs to go.

I would still watch this episode again though.

Cumberbatch and Freeman are both excellent in the roles and now that I know there is no actual story or mystery to solve, I can sit back and let the acting wash over me.

Yeah fair point. But creators often move on and fresh writers can improve the show they started.

Real people who don't represent every single person who watches Sherlock.

Why is that so difficult to grasp? If by your own admission you're just actively hating anything Moffat touches, then you're just bordering on thread-s***ing.

You've moved into self parody now. You didn't watch the episode. Therefore you have nothing to add to the debate of any substance.

These Twits are so funny, aren't they? Can they really be real people?

A few telling remarks suggesting some real bitterness and dare I say envy. Stick to talking about the episode. Not the imagined food and drink and company choices of the show creator. Oh except to comment on the episode you would have to have actually watched it. Imagine that.

Second disappointing episode in a row. People I was watching it with were bored stiff. Moffat seems to have completely lost the plot the past year or so.

Twitter is much like many people on forums. Very noisy. Very opinionated. Very unaware that they don't speak for the nation. Unfortunately the media encourages them by now using Twitter as some way of gaging public opinion. When it does nothing of the sort. Alot of people shouting into the abyss and no ones listening.

I noticed one was from 31st december 2013 before this series of Sherlock even started. So very current and relevant to the current discussion.

Are you turning a blind eye to all the criticism about Sherlock on each and every page of this thread?

You haven't actually seen the episode Moffat's written (by himself) yet. Why's it always Moffat's fault?

Nope. I welcome their views. Yours? Not so much. Its laughable. Actually laughable. You're here still slagging off something you didn't watch. Its actually ridiculous!

Criticism on DS does not represent the entire viewership.

Are you turning a blind eye to all the praise about Sherlock on Twitter? Are you turning a blind eye to all the praise about Sherlock here?

We understand that you don't like Moffat. But I don't understand why you feel you're holding the beating heart of the nation in your hand.

If I was new here, I would think you were trolling. Because that's how many of your posts come across.

Because the Moff is the only person who could possibly have forced writers to turn the show into such a clever-clever, smug, masturbatory mess. His influence and finger prints are all over it. Ultimately he's responsible as show-runner for the way the characters, story and narrative have changed.

Why are people wittering on about Moffat 'ruining' the show as if he has just taken over. Have they forgotten he was the one who created the show and has worked on the previous series?

Sorry to disappoint you but for Moffat and the BBC bosses they will care that they got biggest overnights ever and great reviews. They wont lose any sleep because an anonymous person on a forum says he should be sacked.”

Biggest overnights ever? Of what, a whole 7 episodes. And thought overnights were not important anymore! Anyway, even you said in a previous post was that a lot of that was to do with the hype that had built up over how Sherlock survived (similar to when people tuned in to see Tenant' shock regeneration in Journey's End of DW). I am not knocking the BBC's marketing skills. And I certainly don't expect them to lose any sleep over anything I type on this forum, not sure what point you are trying to make.

I suppose it's because he's the show runner..or he and Gatiss.

I'm always annoyed by the jam tomorrow type comments like "this will all make sense next week" it hasn't happened yet.

People were talking about some folks perceived weaknesses in Who lately and saying it might be because of the effort he's putting into Sherlock and then we get these two sub par episodes.

He needs to come off one of them IMHO..it all feels like it went downhill since he took on both.

NB Did a much better job on Jekyll and his individual Who stories so he has got talent.

Hate to say it but I didn't care much for the episode.

There were bits that put a smile on my face but the actual case involving Sholto was completely un-interesting and seemed to be just a way of introducing crime into a wedding episode.

Hopefully next week's is more of a traditional case episode and any following episodes after that.

The formula's off and it needs to get back on track.

Trying to keep level headed about this ,I just found it a disappointing episode.
The first one was so-so but I thought that it was always going to be a difficult one to write after a long break and with so much expectation.

This episode could well be the set up for the next episode's WOW moment but in a series of only 3 episodes every 2 years, each one needs to make a positive impact.

I don't follow Gatiss and Moffat and who they are and what they've written , I take the show on its own merits and it really seems that this series has become a little smug and too many inside jokes.
Yes the acting is great, the production and locations are all great but the writing seems to be self-serving and that is the real shame.

If this was Elementary, 24 episodes a season , you could get away with set up episodes and filler but not in a 3 episode series.

After 2 excellent well-written series, this one so far has been disappointing.

Because some bitter individuals are upset because Moffat is a successful writer who drinks red wine and eats spaghetti Bolognese and has friends and dinner parties. I suspect a rejected script sits in someone's bedside table, unwanted and unloved.

Slap on the wrist time again !!

You have proven to be a balanced individual whose analysis of shows I find interesting with things to agree and disagree with but again you're being dragged down into attacking others .

Bed time and no cocoa for you.
