I will *TRY* to get some pictures of the inside of the store next week, but no promises!

You mean that you've been to that Poundstretcher store before?

What a small world we live in!

The outside of the building looks like something you would see on an urban exploration site.

As for the inside. Whilst admittedly very retro and depressing, it probably serves its purpose and I've seen worse.

lol how depressing - looks a weird place for a poundstretcher too, I thought those places did better from passing trade rather than being out in the sticks.

OMG l think it's safe to say that Poundstretcher aren't really into presentation. Were there any signs of rats, mice, roaches or insects, pinkteddyx64?

PS Just out of interest, were the shots taken with a mobile phone camera? Cheers.

The pictures were taken with a Samsung V700 digital camera. And yes, there was signs of insects and roaches! No sign of any rats or mice, although I bet that there would have been an infestation of rats and mice at that place at some point! And there was some ant powder on the floor in various areas in the place as well!

That was a brave thing to do to take shots with a digital camera - did the staff notice, pinkteddyx64? (unless they're like Sports Direct staff who don't seem to notice their customers anyway)

As for the infestations, that's troubling because they'll no doubt have kitchenware in that store that'll probably need triple disinfection and steam cleaning after being in a place like that! l'm surprised that there are no rodents given those pics you posted and if you notice any dark coloured rice grains on the floor or shelves then that's probably mouse deposits.

The staff did notice me take the pictures, but they didn't seem to care in the slightest! Come to think of it, I did notice dark coloured grain on the floor! And they sell kitchenware! And they sell tubs of popcorn too, and one of the tubs looked suspect, there was coloured bits amongst the popcorn. I picked the tub up, and I looked at the "Best Before" date on the label, and it said "Best before date 21st May 2004"!

To be honest, pinkteddyx64, that horror store really ought to grassed up to the council's environmental health department because someone could become ill based on those pics and descriptions. That is just so unprofessional.

Another sign to look for is nibbling at the base of packets, etc. and that's another indication that mice are present and l'll bet the carpet is grotty and covered in stains too!

Those pictures made me laugh,

The one near me doesn't look an awful lot better, and i've not seen a queue at the tills for a good few years. Every time i walk past, i think how are they still in business.

Looks a bit better.

Jeez I wouldn't be happy shopping in that place at all! It looks like a big warehouse. If I owned that building I'd knock it down and rebuild a modern building that complies with the regulations.

You should report that store to Environmental Health and also Health and Safety. Maybe you should get on to the Food Standards Agency (or whatever they're called) about them selling food that's way out of date as someone who eats that could get bad food poisoning. The place needs demolishing and rebuilding.

I know that store! It's on Fishponds Road not too far from Morrisons though I've not been in it.

Looks a bit better.

It looks manky, doesn't it, cnbcwatcher? It might be OK as a setting for biologists to study the feeding and mating habits of cockroaches http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=coc...w=1024&bih=545 but it really out to be on the receiving end of multiple raids by environmental health and trading standards officials.

Good. They probably won't reply before Monday though.

You'd want to wear one of these when shopping in there: https://www.google.com/search?q=bioh...OceGhQfk3qDrCw as you don't know what you'd find

Way to go, dude!! By all means let us know if it gets raided at 6am in the morning or is completely shut down!

Damn that is a mess, I did a work experience in Poundstretcher, and I thought it was a mess.. but damn that one is bad. I actually would love to see what the stockroom looked like. Ours was always a shit heap so this one must be a mesh of boxes and celotape. Jeez look at the TV tables and cabinets, it looks like they're waiting for some kid to throw them over. It's like a mission from Crystal Maze, and somebody's gonna get claustrophobia from them narrow aisles

Maybe they should hand them out just before people dare to go in there. It should also have an "enter at your own peril" warning.

That Image in the OP looks like a palace compared to some of the Ermmm Corner shops round my way.
It looks as if it was an old Kwick Save store.
