I have always felt that a professional, experienced singer like Rowetta should not be in this competition.
And after her performance tonight I really feel strongly about it, she showed great stage presence and confidence all the way through her song. Compare this to all the others who (while some were confident) were obviously in a new and emotional environment. Rowetta should not have been allowed in this show and if you feel the same way, post here.

P.S. If you don't feel the same way then you may also post any feedback in the interest of fairness.

I thought like that at first, but she is within the rules, its not as if she has hidden her past, so I say best of luck to her now.

I'm sick of hearing about her 'interesting' past in the tabloids, still the publicity doesn't seem to be affecting her.

Shows such as X Factor have a strong element of manipulation inherent in the very way the format is exploited.
We may find that some of the others have also been professionl/semi-professional. As has happened several times before.

People say the show is about talent, or ability. If the artists get on the show with the full knowledge of their past known to the producers, then it's not the fault of the artist.
The artist has been chosen, they have abilty, they are there.

It's not the fault of the artists in question, it's more a complaint to the criteria selection of the producers.
If the complaint is to be directed toward anyone, I think it should be the producers who are responsible for any blame, not the singers themselves.

Rowetta has a fantastic voice, is competing within the rules, and fully deserves a late chance at a solo career. I'd much rather listen to her than most of the other contestants. This thread is rude and objectionable, and I'd quite like to see it removed.

Im guessing this post was made by a Tabby fan...someone who may see our lovely Rowetta as a threat to the other contestants...of course shes a threat shes the best singer out there and i think she definitely deserves a second chance, shes by far the most talented singer of the lot, I agree with Ruby_...this post should be removed its just ridiculous

Rowetta is talented that's a given, she's not to my taste but I also feel this thread is pointless and should be removed.

I dont care how she gets out as long as shes out. I cant fault her singing in tune abilities and 'confidence' if you can call it that, id just say over the top and playing up to the cameras, but I personally just cant stand her voice. I love Cher but Rowetta....sorry, but no!

I don't have anything against tabby fans, most are quite nice, the problem i have with tabby is tabby himself...but you know we all have opinions and I think quite a lot of people want this thread removed, it is pathetic and its only going to cause rants

I think she's wonderful. It's a breath of fresh air to have someone who actually has a bit of star quality rather than the Westlife and Britney clones we normally get. Just because she's been a professional in the past shouldn't disqualify her. Lots of professional singers spend their lives slogging their guts out without ever getting a break like this. Go girl.

I love Rowetta. She is second to G4 in my opinion but if you remove a thread like this then there are a number of other threads that would then need to be removed. As ridiculous as the title of this thread is, it does raise an interesting point that people will agree or disagree on. I read a post in another thread that suggested that Rowetta had an unfair advantage due to her vast experience in the industry though I suppose you could say that for anyone in the over 25 group that Simon has. There are always going to be talented singers who have had some sort of experience in the industry. There were no specific rules saying that you were not allowed to take part if you had already had some sort of music career before you entered.
I fully support Rowetta being in the competition but I also support the right of people being allowed to discuss the pro`s and con`s of her inclusion without fear of censorship. Maybe the title of the thread could be considered a little inflammatory though.

This may surprise some of my fellow GR mates here but I think oodles is perfectly entitled to this thread,it's shall we say "controversial " which is fine and okay by me.
Quite a few of Ro's competition in the last 9 have been semi pro or equivalent so I think the playing field is fairly level....with the possible exception of little Cassie, whos voice I like and whose image I hate (Terry,go stand in the corner, boy!)
It was an interesting point that oodles made about Ro's "stage presence" and confidence...this is what I think we should call her X FACTOR!!.....isn't that what they are looking for?
Good luck to you oodles ,IMO let's have an open forum with no topic off limits....
GO RO!!!!
"I'm through aren't I".....

Oh, a heated debate, or maybe not too much of a debate! The competition was open to everybody and, as has previously been said, you can't blame any of the more experienced acts who have been put through by the judges. I am all for free speech so don't feel that this thread should be removed but do feel the title is a bit unfortunate. It's interesting as well to see that most of the posts on here are in support of Rowetta! In my mind she has charisma, passion, a great stage presence and a killer voice and deserves to go all the way.

Go Ro!

rowetta wrote the book on hard knocks,
so the title of this thread, won't surprise her.
i had never heard of her, before the x-factor,
but as a finalist, she has a chance to right a wrong
and as a winner, she can deliver a knock-out blow..
to ALL the 'critics' who said would never make it

afaik no rules have been broken.
I'm just glad that we have had the opportunity to see and hear Rowetta perform, and I certainly would buy an album of hers.

Well Oodles I guess you knew the heading would grab everyone's attention, but your comments and opinion are perfectly reasonable. Nothing wrong with a good, constructive debate. People have put up some good arguments for and against. I do agree that Rowetta is streets ahead with her stage presence and confidence; the others will need to work very hard to catch her up. I badly want someone else to be strong competition for her - that'll what makes the contest great!
