well maybe your arguement will make sense when there is a non-white winner in the UK

i dont know whether that was meant for a certain stereotype you have in your head or not..but as far as i know majority of the asians where i live deal in drugs or what not

and i brought the bnp into this as it was relevant to my arguement that racism does exist..and to the documentaries i have seen they show hate to asians more than any other ethnic person

This is my last post on this very silly thread. I find it particularly silly because some people are saying that thousands of voters are REFUSING to vote for their favourite act, just because the Act isare black. I suspect that people tend to vote for their favourite act... FULL STOP and if that act is not black. then TOUGH. If that act is black then that's GREAT, so be it.

There is so much tension and anger in your arguments, AMAZING. I do not know your ethnicity, but either you have been the victim of racism, or feel strongly for those (including myself) who have. Either way, you are trying to make a positive statement, but not in the most positive of ways.

Everybody knows that racism, in some form or other, exists. People on this forum have, however, tried to argue that there are a multitude of other reasons for VWS to have been in the bottom two last week. Don't get me wrong - I applaud any stance against racism, but feel that by incorrectly branding people as racist just because they have not voted for a group comprising of three black women is unfair to the majority of the viewing public.

I can sympathise with Sunset Bitch's exasperated comments - just because a person is white does not mean they are racist if they prefer a white singer. The word 'racist' itself is becoming a taboo. I know some of my white colleagues take great pains to ensure that only politically correct terminology is used and often feel guilty when the subject is raised in front of me. Real racists don't give a damn.

Again, I do think that you are right to hate racism, but try not to look so hard for it that you are not open to other possibilities.

From a 'WHITE' woman who's had more threats and dog-shit through my letter-box than most...listen to me when i ask that you do not dilute the REAL argument with the groundless spurious!

i just find it ignorance that if you ever mention race then you get about 8 or 9 ignorant people who dont want to deal with your point and just rather just say that you are using the race card..

Were a FM to be arguing that an individual didn't get the necessary vote said individual FM percieved they ought have have recieved because they were a woman...the same negation of argument would apply.

Yes but it was a very unhelpful and illogical argument. Molesting a child is a crime, and there is no circumstance in which it can ever result from anything but criminal behaviour. For a black artist not to win a TV talent show is not a crime, and certainly does not necessarily point to racial prejudice.

racism is a crime also..its just not as extreme as child molestering

but i can garentee that someone who suffered racism and someone whos child had suffered child abuse would both be feeling really hurt and in pain about it...

even if they arent the same..they both still hurt

I'm sorry you appear to have difficulty with/understanding the way in which i sometimes make my view(s) - cripes you should see some of the daftly convoluted stuff i do when i'm being light - known...but my intent is not as you suggest.

I'm aware that when i feel particularly seriously about an issue, and it's wider ramifications, i find it easier to communicate this way - generally that's so that i don't resort to insulting, shouting and swearing at other FMs...i'd rather take that course than make unconstructive personal posts...i guess it's a matter of choice.

Racism is indeed a crime, and I have always taken it very seriously. My point is however that there are many possible explanations for a black artist not to win a talent show - racism is only one of them. You've decided that racism is the explanation, and you're refusing to entertain any other possibility. That's where your argument falls apart.

I think you're wrong to say that everyone would have the same views about racism if we were all the same race. One thing I know for sure is that I definitely wouldn't want to live here if we were all the same race. One of the things that makes this country great is that it is a multiracial society.

I'm sorry to have leapt to the wrong conclusion then. I'm not trying to censor you - I'm just asking you politely to use simpler English. I have a postgraduate education, and I honestly can't make head or tail of what you're saying. I do agree however that communicating that way is much better than being rude and insulting.
