Crucial, crucial difference here. MM could sing in tune. She wasn't a nervous wreck. Auntie Vee was out of tune more often than she was in tune. She has no stage presence, IMO. From memory, the audience would go wild for MM. Maybe that had something to do with her being a fat Glaswegian

Roberta was far weaker than Verity last night. Her voice lacks the maturity and honesty that Verity's has. When Verity sings "I Will Always Love You", I for one believe her; when Roberta sang "Superstar", I couldn't have been less interested: blando teeny-tripe, suitably discarded.

I thought Roberta was far better than Verity. I found Verity to be bland and out of tune. I was surprised to see her go through.
