The format of the show is kinda bitter-sweet for me.
I hate the fact that there's competition between the judges. It causes them to say bad things and vote contestants off simply because someone is not in their team. It's unfair towards the contestants. The fighting kinda spoils things for me.
On the other hand I love the fact that the judges have to choose between the bottom two. It would stop the screwed up British public sending home the good ones, unless the bottom 2 are both good like tonight.
It's difficult though because I think the whole lot except for Verity is unbelievably good. Where were all these talented people with last years Pop Idol ?

I agree. I wish they'd shut up fighting and playing at quippy one-upmanship and get on with it.

Annoying the life out me, those three.

I trust Simon to choose the most talented act to go through, but not Louis or Sharon. I think they'll make tactical choices to get their own back on him and not be professional about it.

While I'm not a huge fan of Simon, I think he's able to be professional and honest.

I think the judges twist is going to spoil the programme in the long run.

It stinks. I hate the way this show is more about the judges then the contestants. It will ruin it in the same way that Fame Academy 2 and popstars-The Rivals was ruined.

Let the public have the sole choice...the "twist" is absolutely awful.

You sum it up nicely for me Nic. I do enjoy the show and the format, and where I normally enjoy judges who say what they feel - the rivalry after one show is very tiresome. I think if they keep it up I will hate them all by the end .

Is the twist where the judges choose from the final 2 going to be a regular thing then?

NO !! the twist is great !! With each competition some of the best contestants always leave early because of the public's unexplainable voting. The twist would prevent that. Take tonight for instance, say Roberta got the least number of votes and was up againts someone realy bad, then the judges could have kept her in, regardless of what the votes said.
Whats awfull is the competition between the judges, It kinda invalidates the purpose of the twist though because judges would never vote for their own.

The judges fighting is nothing new in this type of show guys, c'mon!

Makes a change for Simon Cowell not to be the harshest tbh (hmmm @ him playing on this by being Mr Nice Guy though ).

At least the judges are actually offering these guys some professional advice - gotta be better than Stars In Their Eyes just because of that! :-/

So do people think its true that Sharon and Louis didn't know anything about the twist? It wouldn't surprise me if this was true and Simon knew all about it all along.

Sharon said tonight that she wouldn't choose between her singers if it came to the crunch..."They'd have to fire me".I believe her...didn't she walk out on her own US talk show! She's a multi millionaire and always goes her own way.Back in the eighties she once sent one her own turds in a tupperware box to someone in the industry that upset her.

Michelle winning Pop Idol is what you get when you have no judge input. I think the twist is great.

I don't mind the fighting that much. It's the fact that their decisions are influenced by who's category the contestant's in that bugs me. Contestant's fate should be down to their performances and not to who's category they are in.

I have to admit i loved the rivalry the first few weeks, whilst it was "banter" style teamed with clever editing and music.

However this evening sent me back to the cringing ,awkward way i felt when FA2 had thier live shows.

Whilst i have never been a big "fan" of Richard Park i still had a grudging respect for him intact after FA1, but the FA2 shows just became a pantomime. The poor students worked hard all week ,trying to remain focussed and proffessional. Whilst the staff behaved like children in a playground.

I totally loved and respected Every judge on the X Factor and thought the mix of personalities a brilliant choice.

I cant for the life of me understand how they can put thier credibility and (love them or hate them)unarguable professional talent on the line ,for the cheap pantomime jibe for what??? the mentor yet another winner on yet another reality tv show???

If this is the holy grail they,re putting all credibility on the line for .............these three people (who i held in very high esteem) are not who i thought they were.

Reality pop/talent shows have always had lots of criticism, i have been a stalwart defender and loved them all!! but since FA2 the live shows are at best laughable and at worst cringeworthy.

Tonight's show was like a pantomime - the judges seem to be forgetting why they are there in the first place. It was like a playground tonight. And I feel that the shock of the bottom two showdown will make things worse. If they choose to continue this and one of Simon's contestant's are up, Louis and Sharon are obviously going to vote that person out, regardless of how good they are.

I never thought I'd say this but much respect to Simon. He was the only one who seemed to give constructive comments. The other two appeared to just be trying to score points against him and get back at him.

I have a feeling that the format will change for next week Sharon was really mad and I think so was Simon, Did u see her keep turning round to talk to her team she is such a succsess and is very well liked they wont want to lose her so I think they will have to change it. At the end of the day its Simons baby so surely he will have a say whats going on. Maybe because of the law suit from Simon Fuller they have had to change the format who knows. As for Louie he seemed very shocked and for a min I thought he was gonna refuse to do it.

Spoilt a very good show would love to know the actual veiwing figures if any one finds out please let me know.

I actually really enjoy all the rivalry between the judges, I find it very entertaining viewing!
I didn't like the 'twist' though, I hope they don't continue with it.

I hate the way that the judges are dominating the competition! This should be all about the contestants and we are being distracted by the pettyness of Sharon and Louis!

Simon is,at least, trying to be a little bit honourable.

Last night's show was indeed like a pantomime but that seems to be the central tenet of the whole show. It's entirely built around the judges' personalities. I don't like it one little bit, but I doubt that Simon and Sharon would consider it worth participating in lower profile roles - and I expect the producers see their showmanship as insurance against inexperienced performers with not much to say for themselves.

This is becoming the Judges Show! Last night the contestants took a back seat to their childishness. At best it was like a pantomime and worst, personal. Sharon was clearly still feeling wounded from all that had happened in the week with Simon and could not believe that Simon was being honest and his comments were genuine, constructive criticisms and not personal, which is why she was so shocked each time he paid any in her group a compliment.

I like Sharon, but am a little worried as to how she will handle the up and coming weeks, if they continue to get meaner and meaner. Sharon is a professional too, and takes it extremely seriously but whilst she may be normally pretty tough nosed in business, you get the impression, she was pretty fragile mentally and physically coming into this whole thing and hadn't bargained on becoming so emotionally involved with the contentestants and the show.

But this is the probelm - it IS becoming "The Judges Show". Surely it should be about the contestants and which one (regardless of age) has the X Factor?

Personally I liked the judges comments - I'd much rather hear more of them than the 'behind the ecenes' bit before each performance. My suggestions on how to improve the show would be:

1. calm the audience down for goodness sake
2. please let the comtestants sing the whole song before bursting into applause half way through (the song only lasts about 90 seconds)
3. less 'behind the scenes stuff (I can watch that on Xtra)
4. full songs instead of just 90 seconds
5. get rid of the final 2 having to sing off - if I'd payed 30p (or whatever it is) to vote I'd be pissed off if they were then voted off by the judges. I think this will put people off voting next week

Just my opinion - hopefully will get better

While they have this number of contestants, they can only let them have 90 seconds of time. There will be more time as the contestants are whittled out.
