Srap Big Brother

According to the Sunday Telegraph former Channel 4 bosses are calling for the channel to stop appealing only to the youth audience by screening "crap" shows like Big Brother.

There's a pic of Michelle in army uniform giving a V-sign with a caption saying that that was the brawl that led to a police investigation. Obviously watch the show a lot, don't they.

This awful story makes it on to the online edition of the Sunday Telegraph, 24/10/04.

It's here.

That comment alone has made my day!

P.S. Sadly, as with so much of so called "journalism" the whole story is probably rubbish... still, it was a temporary boost to my ego

These are the people who think C4 needs to be like BBC4 (yes there is a BBC4 if you are not one of the 50k people who watch it)

The idea that BB is high quality crap is pretty nonsensical. The themes of Bb are the same as those in the pretentious pseud films that C4 used to waste its money on or Eastenders has turned into tired pap.

The problem with C4 is that it fails to realise when it has something unique and funny (RISE), fills its schedules with US repeats, clones of BBC lifestyle shows and copycat documentaries and keeps on trying to be controversial with shows like the totally repetitive Bremner Bird and Fortune.

The Sunday Telegraph, hardly a surprise. Guess The Mail will be next

I am the addict of my family, my brood are not interested in the slightest. I got my mother interested in BB and other reality shows over the past 2 years and she is in her mid 60's. Though how I got her to watch BB again after seeing BB4 as her first series, goodness only knows.

Scrap BB......strewth no, it's become somewhat of an summer institution nowadays. It was just this morning that I heard a news clip on my local radio station that 'BB forever' might be on the cards.... countries are looking closely at Germany with their current series running for a year (ending next March) with the idea of running BB indefinitely, the 'Truman show' becoming reality. The idea is to build a complete self-supporting 'Town' for the contestants.

Personally I think it's stretching the whole concept a bit too far, 9 to 10 weeks a year is about right. It'll be interesting to see if any countries would be interested in doing it 24/7, 365 days a year but can't see it happening in the UK.

BB works during the summer because it doesn't compete with football on a large scale so people have more time to view it
