A girl on my facebook lost her other half in a car accident yesterday morning. She's left on her own with a 3 year old and a 5 month old. It's utterly heartbreaking reading her timeline, seeing pictures just taken at the weekend of the family together My heart really goes out to her and I hope she copes ok with two young children- I think he was the breadwinner so god knows how she's going to survive now.

I'd love to say something but feel that words are kind of futile, plus I don't really see her so I feel it would be a little bit odd. However, there are people that haven't seen her since school posting status' about the accident, how much they admire her etc etc.

Call me cynical but to me it screams "LOOK AT ME! I CARE! AREN'T I NICE!!!"

Yep very, very sad and obviously there's no escape from putting that news on FB, folk need to know what will happen, either sooner or later. Maybe not in massive detail.

paperplanes - she's like a very hard-faced Abbey Clancy. And to be fair that's an insult to Abbey Clancy, this one is dead eyed and has a "Simpsons" style smile. I'd die laughing if they were one & the same. But they always congregate together in the end, don't they?!

I'm gutted for her. I know its weird because I don't really know her that well (we were in the same classes and I gave her some newborn nappies a few months ago) but I can't stop thinking about it. It's my worst nightmare, losing my husband in a car crash.

The "Omg u ok hun" comments started a couple of hours after. The statuses from people who hardly know her are cringe worthy, sorry if that's harsh but I think its really uncouth, even if your heart is in the right place its just odd. The hardest thing I read was the girl saying that she text him a minute ago and then just realised he was gone. Eurgh

No, I completely see what you mean. "I never knew or liked you at all but I'm a death porn groupie and I want all your friends to know that I CARE but if you ask me to do anything genuinely helpful at all I just won't bother me arse" is probably a more honest response.

Someone posted that they cant wait to find out and she replied that they havent decided yet if they are going to tell anyone. So theres been so many comments where shes teasing people. A lot of people dont care but if she doesnt want it known, why so many bloody posts about it?

Shes already bought blue clothes and pink clothes because she couldnt wait a week to find out,and is now demanding her mother in law buy lots of stuff because she will bethe second person to know the sex!

Far from it! Although she expects the same reaction at all news about her baby that the royal baby received!

On the subject of kate middleton, i have a facebook friend who was once told by a stranger she looked like kate middleton. Ever since then she keeps updating her profile pic where shes got the same hairstlye as kate, and is copying her pose and smile. Its a lot different to the natural photos she used to have but she loves it when other people comment how she looks like kate.

On one of those buy and sell pages,

A work colleague posted a pic of her getting married, her and hubby stood beside the registrar - AT THE CEREMONY, JUST AT THE END! BEFORE SHE'D EVEN LEFT! Oh, and guess when her relationship status was updated? There & then!!

Currently getting live updates from my friend who is on a train journey. She is posting every time the train stops at a station. I. DON'T. CARE.

After two days of constant posts about her throat infection, a fb friend (neighbour of my friend who added me) has updated that they have called an ambulance and are going to hospital. (well enough to update fb but not find their own way to the hospital). I was at their neighbours house (my friends) at the time and noticed the paramedics left without her but she hasnt updated about that....

Another friend has just uploaded a pic of her nephew wearing nothing but wellies!!! Cant believe some people are so stupid!!!

And another friend recently had a huge rant about her waste of space husband, who never does anything, ignores his son, is selfish and rude etc... I feel sorry for her if true but is fb really the place to say all this??!! - his family and friends were really abusing her for it!!!

I agree with you. And the 'omg, are you ok Hun' type comments - as well meaning as the people who write them may be, it's a stupid question, isn't it? Of course she's not ok. Her world has tipped upside down, and she is no doubt absolutely devastated. It seems hideously inappropriate to write things like that on FB, somehow.

I have a friend like that. She is always moaning about her husband - who is actually a lovely guy - and I think it's awful. I actually asked her once if she thought FB was the appropriate place to vent, and she said, "We'll, he's not on Facebook, so he won't see it." THAT'S NOT THE POINT!! (And she is actually friends on there with several of his real life friends, so I bet he will hear about it.

On Valentine's Day, she posted a long rant about how unromantic her husband is, and she knows he won't do anything special for her. This was about 8.30am. Twelve hours later, she is uploading pictures of the flowers, chocolates and surprise posh meal he sprung on her!

It's crazy isn't it, I mean something can happen day to day and I'll think hmmm that could go on my facebook but its usually well after the event not at that exact minute.
