In a few seconds you'll see a box that says "Subscribed". Hover over that, then go to "Comments and Likes" and unclick it. That will stop my posts and yours to me from showing up on the side bar for everyone to see, but most importantly it limits hackers from invading our profiles. If you repost this I will do the same for you. You'll know I've acknowledged you because if you tell me that you've done it I'll "like" it

Today is daughter's day. If you love your daughter you'll repost this to your wall and let everyone know how much you love her.

*Every day is friggin' daughter's day and if I want her to know I love her, I'll come off the laptop and spend some time with her.

I know? why not just tell her son she loves him rather than putting it on FB?

Oh yes, and there have been similar saying you must post if you love your son!

FB was invented to allow mothers to show up their sons via crashing their conversations and being very embarrassing. No time for this 'I'm posting cuz I love my son' business.

Statuses that whine about some undisclosed grievance, followed by shamelessly nosy enquiries, rebuffed with "I don't want to talk about it". Don't post it for everybody to see then.

My daughter (13) does this. It drives me up the bloody wall. I admit that there has been times where I've insisted she deletes said 'whinge' and 'passive aggressive' shite which is probably wrong but - grrrr!

The other ones are those who post "3 weeks to the anniversary of X's death, which is terrible because it's only 4 weeks and 2 months until the anniversary of Y's death. " Then we get a morbid countdown of the memories leading up the death, with pics posted and memories shared such as, "This time 8 years ago, I phoned X. Little did I know it would be the last time I phoned him." Public grief - it's plain 'orrible.

Today's highlight :"can't wait for tea time"

When someone dies and theres always someone who writes a heartfelt speech and never even barely knew the person. Many people like to attention seek via death on facebook, I find it disturbing to say the least.

Saw a similar pathetic post on facebook last week along the lines of:

'Being a MUM is the hardest job in the world. I'm an alarm clock, a security guard, a cook, a maid, a PA, a cleaner, a taxi driver, a teacher, a doctor AND i scare off the boogeyman! I dont care if I have stretch marks and my body isnt like a models, I'm a MUMMY and I wouldnt change that for the world! Repost if your a mum and your proud!'

Seriously, get a grip! People have been becoming mums for years, your nout special!

Unlike most others in this thread, I have no problem with people posting inane drivel about what they're doing, what they're watching, listening to. It's only what we do face to face and over the phone. It's chit chat.

Like I said, only self absorbed whining annoys me. But what grates me more? People with a pole up their arse about Facebook. Sneering at what other people post, passing judgement about how much time they spend on there, deploring people for not getting "real friends". We know our friends better these days than we did in years gone by and a lot of that is due to Facebook. Some people clearly take themselves too seriously. To me, it's a magazine about other peoples' lives. If I don't like a page, I can always skip it. And yeah, I probably could be out running a local action group or reading the complete works of Shakespeare instead of browsing Facebook on my phone. But I can't really be bothered right now.

A friend has someone posting stuff like that on FB, but reality is she's always fighting with her child (they socialise in real life as well).

The thread was about worst status updates, if you dont like people debating on facebook content why did you read it?

It's just a bit of light hearted discussion poking fun at something most of us use. I think it could be you taking yourself too seriously!

Bitch, you are a squat, 30-something year old white woman from Edinburgh. What the hell are you doing? Big ups to your ****ing homies? Are you kidding me?

I used to have grudging respect for this woman because she does support some worthwhile causes and does occasionally pull out an action with the AIM (anti-injustice movement) which I can support. Then I hung out with her a couple of times...alarm bells started ringing when she thought it was super ironic and awesome to snort coke and speed off the bible - and god knows that £100s worth of powder only funds justice. Then every single time she made it to an action she would get thirsty for Starbucks or hungry for McDonalds. Num num num, I hate capitalism, I am all about the animal rights, num num num bacon.

Not to mention the fact that she would almost never show or she'd be hours late. Why? Because she had a big night or three. We all know that's why. Everyone. But she has an endocrine disorder and she trots that out as her excuse every single time, and there have been hundreds of times. She goes out and gets absolutely hammered, absolutely wasted. Coincidentally she feels ****ing lousy in the morning - damn disease playing up! Nothing to do with the vodka or the coke.

This would annoy me in anyone, but the fact that she thinks she's this ****ing crusader for justice is what really makes it.

If you look a few posts up I contributed to the thread by saying what posts actually do irritate me. The other post was about people who actually do sneer at Facebook - despite having a profile - and talk about it like they're so above it. Which isn't true of the majority of people posting in this thread. But is true of the original post.

One from tonight....,"can't be bothered with you anymore, all you do is bitch about sh@t"......,responses so far "what's up hun?...,,."hope u ok ?..... Naturally no reply!

Not good for me because if I go to FB to get away from it it's there too!


It certainly won't have occurred to the mother who posted that status and her thick friends.

I personally love it when a couple basically has a domestic via the medium of facebook,

xxxx went from in a relationship to being single, followed by a generic, "I hate him, I cant put up with him anymore, treating me terrible, being an agressive drunk, its just too hard for me.."

naturally all the friends will post "ah he was shite anyways u deserve betr hun"

20 mins later, they're back in a relationship, "omg I can't believe he bought me chocolates, love him forever xxx"

same friends will post "ah I knew youse would sort it out" and repeat in about a months time.

it's like watching an episode of eastenders without having to listening to those annoying accents

"I'm bored" - Someone I know posts this at least three times a week.

"Having a facebook spring clean, like or comment if you don't want to be deleted!"

"I'm going to Miami for six months" - I can only assume they were trying to "cure cancer" or some shit, either way I hope the plane crashes.

My mum does both! She posts the occasional copy and pasted statuses about gay rights too. It might be annoying to others, I find it quite sweet I never expected it of her.
