Are you thinking what I'm thinking, the Oaks could be a damn good tool for E4 as I think it's not delivering on Channel 4, but scrapping it would be stupid as it has decent demos.
I can't see Emmerdale really pulling ahead of Eastenders, but it could run neck and neck with it as the cockney soap has been weak recently and is so depressing. Emmerdale might be a bit corny, but it has a likeable factor to it.

Isn't there a double elimination as well. I also think the voice will get around 8m for its debut especially with all the hype but could go downhill from there

No it's not. Just lately there's been more Humour and Lighthearted scenes' then the last 26 years put together. There's also been some happy endings too
And if people find a TV soap depressing they might as well shoot themselves now. Have you not watched the news Lately?

Seems like the latest "DOI twist"/double elimination :yawn: serves one purpose and one purpose alone - a desperate attempt to get folk to tune in to the "results show" rather than Upstairs Downstairs.

What's the betting ITV's line up next week will actually run 6.05 DOI, 8.05 Coro, 8.35 WAH, 9.35 DOIR - with no breaks at the 8.35 and 9.35 junctions?

ITV-bashing aside, I should give credit to That Sunday Night Show. It's been really quite good this series, and tonight's was really very funny. I hope word of mouth helps it build something of an audience. It deserves to.

And talking of scheduling junctions, why have the BSI decided to launch Let's Dance next week 10 minutes before the FA Cup match on ITV1 finishes? They could have given it a real boost by starting it at 7.10pm as the final whistle blows and the hurried 2 minute ITV Sport post-match "analysis" (sic) starts.

No reason why BBC1's schedule couldn't have worked 10 minutes later.

Well I am sick of seeing strikes, demos, terrorism and useless politicians arguing all the time and at least Eastenders isn't real. Meself I like The Lakes when this is shown against EE.

That EastEnders is depressing has never seemed to do it any harm in the past. Depressing is kind of EastEnders 'thing'.


From what's been said she wasn't officially offered the job but asked if she'd be open to doing it (and apparently she was). As far as I'm aware Huston was one of a few people that Fox and SyCo have put feelers out to, to gauge their interest. I suspect though that the panel they were chasing was Cowell, Reid, Huston and Mariah Carey which is undeniably a much better panel than season one.


Surely Let's Dance has a slightly different audience profile? Plus how many people are actually going to be watching football on ITV?

Why the 24th? I thought Let's Dance is set to finish on the 10th, is there something on the 17th I'm not aware of?

Edit - Just googled it and I see the Six Nations finishes on the 17th. However, the last game is at 5pm this year, unlike last year when it was 7.45, so does that mean The Voice can possibly start on the 17th?

Interesting to note Channel 5 have cut the 5pm news and scheduled a double bill of both Neighbours and Home And Away on Friday 17th this week. So Neighbours runs 5pm-6pm and H&A runs 6pm-7pm. This is due to the Europa League football on Thursday evening displacing Thursday's soap hour. Could be a small boost to their soap ratings on Friday.

As for ratings last night, quite poor really for a February winter night, when a lot of the country was below minus 5 outside. Take Me Out, Who Dares Wins and Casualty are good reliable performers but this time of year Saturday ratings always seem a bit dull without one of the big hitter programs.

The latest BARB Officials should be interesting. BBC One should score 5m+ in every single 9/10pm slot during the week. When was the last time that happened?

That's a good bit of calculating DMN. According to this the final of Let's Dance is March 17th so The Voice starting that day or the 24th sounds possible.

They also have a few more stars for Let's Dance Fatima Whitbread, Darren Gough, actor and comic Miles Jupp, comedy group The Cuban Brothers, Tracey Beaker actress Dani Harmer and Outnumbered star Tyger Drew-Honey.

I didn't realise there was an extra episode of Let's Dance this year, usually it's just 3 rounds and a final, so 24th for The Voice would be right then, unless it's possible to fit both in on the 17th.

HO's ratings have been stable-ish, this week they reached 1.3m! E4's ratings have been higher since the WAG Wedding/Silas climax and reach 600k regularly, especially this week as they got 680k.
The thing about Hollyoaks is that one episode is repeated 12 times a week! With all those ratings put together HO should get 2 - 2.5million per episode! It's like skins, 750k watched the premier but C4 say, altogether, 1.2 million people watched it due to repeats and 4oD so they obviously look at these so I'm not worried for HO. C4 have more things to worry about anyway!

Sky's John Williams has tweeted a couple of Sky ones, though nothing for the proper channels , so they are out there.

Big 5.3m for BAFTAs, 8.5m for CTM.
