No teasers yet from Mike Teevee, so here's one tweeted by Michael Rosser - Mrs Brown's Boys concluded with a whopping 8.3m, a 2m timeshift he claims.

Its biggest ever rating anyway, just beating the Boxing Day opener.

(I actually make that a 1.9m timeshift, from 6.4m?)

Blame Net Names, nothing to do with MediaTel

8 MRS BROWN'S BOYS (MON 2130) 7.25

BBC2

C4
1 ONE BORN EVERY MINUTE (WED 2102) 4.19

I don't see anything else of interest to spoil you with

You tease! CTM number 1 for the week for all channels? Or just BBC1?

I'd be astonished if series 3 of MBB doesn't end up at 9.30pm on Saturdays, if it can manage 8.31m there.

What on earth else could?

The BAFTA's did very well indeed - they've had some ratings struggles in the past few years, but thats a commendable performance, obviously aided by its lead in. Call The Midwife did really well once more, even if it looks to finally be settling down. Should still time shift over 10m, and the average ought to crack that level too. Which is amazing, frankly.

I don't think ITV will be sorry to see it leave next week - Dancing on Ice has been overshadowed for the first time this year, and is looking on decidedly dodgy ground, to be honest. I never expected we'd be seeing it sub-7m at this stage (or indeed any stage) of the run. Not sure what ITV can do, though, apart from trying another revamp next year. The show is too weak now to cope with a Saturday/Sunday split.

Phenomenal series average of 7.16m for Mrs Brown's Boys, then. And thats despite taking a lead-in from the biggest flop of the year so far!

As far as I can tell, thats BBC One's best sitcom series rating since Gavin and Stacey in late 2009 (7.89m, boosted by it's two circa 10m showings over Christmas). Enormously good news for comedy on the channel, and it comes from, lets face it, a pretty unlikely source!

But then the show is probably too weak to contend with another series of Call The Midwife again next year as well... at least on Saturday nights it stands a better chance (although if The Voice is a hit and is pushed forward next year it might be buggered anyway).

I think we've these sort of ratings the next Christmas special will go out on Christmas Day rather than Boxing Day. With a crappy lead in from The Royal Bodyguard to timeshift as much as it did on Monday nights was brilliant. And as for that final rating. It is now must see TV.

It also probably doubled or more its series 1 average!

And to think only 13 months ago, the early reports suggested a stinker, shunted into a late night slot, and supported by a pretty poor trailer IIRC.

How wrong we were!

right data is live on BARB website (hope you can all see it now)

as a massive rugger fan I should have mentioned England game figures earlier

11 RUGBY SIX NATIONS (SAT 1626) 6.48

anyway enjoy!

I believe there are several live show DVDs, which RTE showed a version of in 2008, and which surely BBC1 could now air and keep the big mo' going...?

A Downton-threatening 10.89m for CTM!

Even with a mammoth 9.03m overnight, it still shifted by nearly 1.9m!

Wow!

With Saturday Night Takeaway returning in Q1 next year it seems unlikely that DOI will shift there now. I wonder if next year they might be better off going with something like:

18:00 - Dancing on Ice
20:00 - All Star Family Fortunes
21:00 - Dancing on Ice: The Skate Off
21:30 - Sitcom/Panel Show

DOI would then completely avoid CTM and Family Fortunes would hopefully appeal to a different enough audience to draw in a decent total without having to sacrifice anything bigger. The Skate Off would then be much better starting at the 9pm junction rather than running until 9:30pm and that 9:30pm slot (with a 6m+ lead-in) would be a good one to launch a new 30 minute sitcom or even a panel show if they aren't feeling very creative. They wouldn't be spending any more money as ASFF is much cheaper than WAH and the 9:30pm show would only be 30 mins long. Wild At Heart could then go in the Wednesday 8pm slot after Corrie (alternatively, rzt's idea of turning into 20x30 minute episodes per year and running it on Thursdays at 8:30pm could work).

the thing is though it was popular straight away

something like 3.5 for a 10.30pm show and growing steadily.

Loads of people hate it in my office, especially my Irish mate who knows it from back home (but I love it)

A Saturday/Sunday split = increased production costs.

Surely that makes it less likely than say a few years ago when it was at its peak?

I don't think it will happen.

And with that rating it has rated higher than every single episode of series 1 of Downton Abbey! Just think about that.

personally I think ITV should move it back to its (very) old Saturday slot. ITV's Saturday night line up is weak without TV Burp and likely to be weaker when Harry hot foots it to Channel 4

6pm DOI
7.30pm half hour comedy
8pm Take Me Out
9.15pm Jonathan Ross
10.15pm News
10.35pm years old film
RobbieSykes123
13-02-2012
Crack open the warm ITV champagne - DOI did manage to beat Countryfile!

By a whopping 7.79m to 7.59m margin...
