It's actually a decent enough format - but the choice of hosts suggest ITV aren't looking to push it as the next big thing. It would actually be a good show to pair up with Take Me Out IMO.

Too bad it doesn't fit in with the type of viewer you would want to associate with. Let's see now -BBC1 will be doing the same thing tomorrow night with their schedule - CTM then Upstairs Downstairs. But you'll just cite that as "clever scheduling" won't you?

I suspect it might have a bigger budget than ITV's typical Summer entertainment shows, so I suspect it might end up in the Autumn instead, possibly replacing Holding Out For A Hero as XF's lead-in. I can kind of see why they've gone for Mark Wright as at least he's got a bit of personality and he won't be the main presenter (similar to putting Stacey Solomon on Sing If You Can), but Melanie Sykes is a fairly uninspired choice. Admittedly it could be worse (Myleene Klass) but someone a bit funnier would have been better. Maybe they'll get someone else if it goes to series.

Yes I reckon the Head of Light Entertainment is a BBC plant to wreck ITV. Anyone who dreams up Born to Shine and Red or Black must have a grudge against ITV.

I'm pretty sure Red or Black was Ant and Dec's own idea.

It was Cowell's idea not Ant and Dec's, although he approached them about presenting it very early on. Push The Button was their idea though and that one didn't work out too well either.

The BBC have also done a very clever job in putting Jay Hunt in charge at C4 and bringing it to its knees

No douht it was her idea to recomission Shipwrecked after it had been cancelled 2 years previously. Shouldn't mention this again, but this pathetic and outdated show should have been left in the dustbin, but this along with Desperate Scousewives and Celebrity Coach Trip is how low Channel 4 have sunk since the Jeremy Isaacs era.

Fans of The Biggest Loser must be getting annoyed by how its been scheduled. Theres no episode this Tuesday, its back the following Tuesday, but its off the Tuesday after that due to football, and then the final is the week afterwards. Im not sure some of the fans will be able to cope with the long wait.

Wasn't one of Jay Hunt's last acts at the BBC to axe Not Going Out ? As soon as she was out the door the BBC recommissioned it And I believe she was instrumental in giving TOS an hour-long slot on Fridays with Chris Evans, traditionally the lowest-rated edition of the week. Very cunning move by the BBC to get her the C4 job.

Also the silly girl let go of Christine Bleakley as her career was blossoming and let her go to ITV to die. A one hour One Show was never going to work considering that it was against you know how.

Latest rating I see for the hour-long Friday One Show (on February 3rd) is 4.58m viewers and a 20.26% audience share. Looks to me like it is working.

Yes - for a primetime ITV1 debut it's probably a good role for Mark Wright - basically undergoing the challenges the wives are about to bet on that their other halves will face.

I agree Melanie Sykes is somewhat uninspired - but there is hardly a wealth of big female names around at the moment, and indeed the only one on ITV's pay role is Christine Bleakley, and to be fair this would probably be better for her than most of the one-off shows she's already done for ITV.

Bleakley's next big gig is a one-off show with Lionel Richie.When DOI finishes there doesn't seem to be much else lined up for her, the reported remake of Stars In Your Eyes has apparently been axed by ITV.
