No she actually recommissioned after her inital decison to axe it.
She recommissioned it with her eye on putting it in the Monday Night 10.35 slot which she established as a comedy slot and where both Mrs Brown's Boys and Graham Norton originally aired.

She isn't even in a direct commissioning role at C4. She oversees the genre commissioners. She is the Channel 4 equivalent of Director of Television.

The head of the commissioning team has the FINAL SAY over programmes..... Even if the relevant commissioner chooses to run with a show and get it on air, she still has to give her ascent to it!!!!!

Yeah Jay Hunt involves herself in commissioning cheap E4 reality shows.
Mark Thompson and George Entwistle are at this moment thinking up what chap antiques/consumer shows they can commission for BBC daytime

1. Bleakley couldn't make up her mind re the offer from ITV, despite attempts by Chiles to persuade her.
2. She got rid of her existing agent who had advised her against leaving the BBC, with the BBC promising to make her ''the face of the Olympics'' (never clear what that meant).
3. Eventually the BBC tired of her indecision and pulled out of the negotiations, which seems reasonable if you can't get a decision from someone.
4. So if you like she went to ITV by default.

No doubt in a few years we'll find her back at the BBC presenting Antiques Roadshow or similar.

She was hired before the decision was made. And no I haven't. I'm just saying it's down to the channel controller to have the overall say on the future of a programme. Just look at Family Affairs, Abigail Webber was going to renew it for 2 years, Dan Chambers (the then DOP at Channel 5) vetoed that and ended the show.....

Big Brother was axed in August 2009. Jay Hunt was first announced as joining Channel 4 in September 2010.

The two are not related whatsoever.

Wrong again, C4 announced they weren't doing it anymore in August 2009 and she wasn't hired by C4 until over a year later.


There is a bit of a difference between an all year round flagship soap and a cheap 10 hour reality show on multichannel.

1. She was hired in June 2009.
2. There's no difference - the DOP has a say over EVERYTHING - HENCE BEING THE DOP!!!!!

But while we're slagging off Jay Hunt Broadcast are reporting T4 will move to E4. Quite sad really to see one of the last defining staples of weekend television on the five main channels end in favour of yet another cookery show. Ultimately as nothing on T4 looks out of place on E4 the brand looks to be on shaky grounds in the long term.

All a bit sad really. T4 helped break through some notable talent that went on to be big primetime stars.

From a mere ratings point-of-view it doesn't do much for them these days so not a huge loss but inevitably this will continue the trend of the typical C4 viewer increasing in age.
