29th June 2009 - the day she was hired - I know it because it's my sister's and my brother's joint birthday that day - not twins by the way.

Hmmm, do I believe myscrapbook2011's because it happened to fall on one of his relative's birthdays, or do I believe Channel 4's own press release?

The anouncement was made in late 2010. She joined in 2011 I'm pretty sure.

Well you must be mistaken. The facts have been posted several times now, why not just accept you were wrong? It's tedious in the extreme.

It was axed before she was hired, surely you knew that
![]() Anyway are you really trying to claim that cheap E4 shows like Shipwrecked carry the same importance and equivalence to Big Brother, Like it or not, BB has been the most talked about show of the last 10 years and more or less kicked off reality television. However, its cheap imitators have largely fallen by the wayside, although someone at Channel 4 must like Shipwrecked as it has been cancelled and revived twice. So much for no more derivative BB rip offs then. |

Severe lack of ratings from last night - only Soaps and a few others, so not a lot to chatter about really.

She was employed with BBC until 2010 so had zero influence on Big Brother's axing on Channel 4. |

Exactly, she joined after the decision was made. However, she is yet to find a show with as much influence and early ratings success.

Yes I reckon the Head of Light Entertainment is a BBC plant to wreck ITV. Anyone who dreams up Born to Shine and Red or Black must have a grudge against ITV.

I cant help but feel that judging someone on the fact they have not found the new Big Brother, or a show with a similar level of success, is setting them up to fail.

just found a video for the My Man Can format http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4Omvd6fnH0 not sure I approve to be honest, who are these women to make these decisions for there men, and then apparently let the bloke take all the blame when he cant preform in an absurdly hyped up environment. Heck why take it in turns, tasks for both him and her. Not sure if its offensive to women, but its hardly something im interested in as a man. Quote:
I wouldn't suggest that, but she needs a decade defining show in the same way BB defined the noughties and TFI defined the nineties. Maybe Gypsy Weddings could be the one as the last series was the station's biggest hit for years.
That smash hit is nice, but I would much rather have an entire schedule of successful shows. There is no question Gypsy Weddings is a hit, but unlike Big Brother its not ground breaking. |

Bit of a low night all round really - Hustle did well and dented Law and Order. Coronation Street beat EastEnders but the gap wasn't as big as it has been and the three day gap couldn't have helped. Home and Away did well to beat Hollyoaks but it did have itself as a lead in!

In ITV's defence I really don't think Born To Shine is a terrible format on paper. Talented kids teaching celebrities a skill all in the name of charity might not sound like a blockbuster show but at the same time it doesn't sound like the unmitigated disaster it was. Arguably Born to Shine's biggest problem was the frankly bizarre choice of presenter and the rather poor production.
Now here's one that could work again, Child's Play, a very successful mid eighties show where celebrities had to guess what children were saying. |

US Ratings Friday February 17
After a bizarre week of unexplained big drops the US broadcast networks can breath a slight sigh of relief that Friday at least seems to have been relatively stable and more easily predictable with ABC, paced by a 20/20 special on Whitney Huston, narrowly edging out CBS for the demo victory on the night. The big success story of the night belongs to CBS' Undercover Boss which in its first Friday showing won the night and dominated the 8PM slot. It's 2.4 was almost double A Gifted Man's performance in the same slot and was down half a point on its last original outing on Sunday night. The lead-in and a move to a stronger HUT hour seems to have helped A Gifted Man out as well. In its first 9PM outing it was up 15% on last week although down two tenths on CSI: New York's performance a week ago. At 10PM Blue Bloods was down though dropping two tenths on last week. Over on ABC Shark Tank felt the force of the increased unscripted competition at 8PM and dropped two tenths on last week but a two hour 20/20 special on Whitney Huston was up six tenths on last weeks one hour edition of 20/20. Fox's Kitchen Nightmares also got squeezed by Undercover Boss at 8PM dropping 13% week-on-week. Fringe fans can breathe a sort of sigh of relief though it seems to have settled. Once again Fringe tied a series low 1.1. Meanwhile on NBC two of the most racist hours on television were up 33% on last year. Probably a combination of Whitney tributes and The Help having a blockbuster year at the movies. At 10PM Dateline dropped four tenths out of a substantially weaker lead-in and against stronger competition on ABC. At The CW Friday continues to be one of their better nights of the week in the 18-49 demo at least. Nikita was up a tenth and whilst Supernatural was down a tenth at 9PM that performance currently ties it as the networks second best performer of the week (Secret Circle was adjusted down to a 0.7 in Thursday's finals). ABC 8PM: Shark Tank – 1.5 [5.66] 9PM: 20/20 – 2.0 [7.12] CBS 8PM: Undercover Boss – 2.4 [10.73] 9PM: A Gifted Man – 1.5 [9.51] 10PM: Blue Bloods – 1.6 [10.33] Fox 8PM: Kitchen Nightmares – 1.3 [3.11] 9PM: Fringe – 1.1 [2.99] NBC 8PM: NAACP Image Awards – 0.8 [2.96] 10PM: Dateline – 1.1 [4.367] The CW 8PM: Nikita – 0.6 [1.60] 9PM: Supernatural – 0.7 [1.68] |
