How has Desperate Housewives been doing on a Tuesday Night, around 11pm?

How is the teatime ratings battle recently, I haven't seen any ratings posted for a while?

If they had Wild at Heart at 8pm and Corrie at 9pm then they'd be slated for putting it against the return of Upstairs Downstairs and attempting to finish it off once and for all. As I've already mentioned it couldn't go at 9.30pm because DOI results would then be at 10pm. It had to be 8pm or 9pm and they chose 8pm which is the closest they could get to the usual start times of 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

So I assume we now have 6.30 AR, 7.30 CF, 8.30 CTM, 9.30 UD vs 6.00 DOI, 8.00 CS, 8.30 WAH, 9.30 DOIR?

I'm not greatly happy about UD finishing at 10.30pm, as it will pull down the overnights a tad. But suddenly everything falls into BBC1's lap better than it was looking before ITV's Corrie intervention. Now the final Midwife goes head to head with the floundering Wild at Heart rather than starting before DOI finishes, and UD goes head to head with the sub 6m rating and hardly compelling DOI results show!

The downside is that Corrie will be more potent against Countryfile and could give WAH/DOIR a better lead in. But for me the winners here are CTM and UD.


Where, but where, are all the ITVistas today expressing "grave concern" etc about EmFm being only 1.8m ahead of Holby City, 1.5m ahead of The One Show, and a whopping 1.3m behind EE?

All they did in the DigiGuide update at around 5pm which is supposed to be final was extend it from 65 minutes to 70 minutes.

I'm surprised ITV didn't swap Coronation Street and Wild at Heart around, thus destroying the BBC One 8:30pm junction.

Surprised no one mentions the lunchtime soap war where Doctors gets double the audience of Neighbours, ironically in the sameish slot BBC One used for over 20 years. However, Neighbours fans could add Neighbours has two showings a day, uniile Doctors, and the 5.30 showing gives the Australian soap a slight ratings lead.

Predicatble and sensible from the BBC. That's a shocking programme length time for Dancing On Ice though - are ITV trying to kill it off? I know they have to make money, but they need to show some sanity.

I can't believe in hindsight that they wanted Call The Midwife against Coronation Street - otherwise they would've kept it quiet and sprung a surprise on everyone.

Does anyone have any idea what BBC One are airing at 9.30pm?


Anyone going to moan about the BBC's indignation considering the response on here after ITV moaned about the Strictly scheduling? No? Thought not.

Anyway, fantastic night for BBC One yesterday. Dire again for ITV1; my argument for moving Coronation Street there was to boost the night; not necessarily to boost Coronation Street. Channel 4 and Channel 5 benefited from ITV1's weakness and BBC two did especially well at 8pm.

Have the schedules been written off for the 19th? Digiguide hasn't updated yet.

Neighbours is 4 if you count 5+1, and 6 if you count 5*

Not quite the same thing. I don't think we've had anyone from Midwife inviting the ITV scheduler to a summit to discuss avoiding a clash? I don't think we've had anyone from Midwife giving front page interviews to tabloids. I don't think we've had months of repeated pressure on ITV to move the Coronation St episode away from Midwife.

Instead, we've had the BBC accepting ITV's right to schedule as they please, and the BBC moving their own programme in order to avoid the clash.

Now confirmed on Digiguide - Countryfile at 6.30, then new Antiques Roadshow at 7.30.

So, ITV have managed to get the BBC to resume the new series of Antiques Roadshow one week earlier than originally planned, making the BBC One schedule stronger than it would have been!

We used to hear about the Colemanballs in sports commentary. Now we have the Finchamballs in television.

The only reason we haven't had that is because it's been a on the spot switch instead of one which has been dragged out week after week.

Not quite in the same league as Coronation St for repeats, though, and two omnibuses.

Only 5.9m for the one show last night from the Palace. I was expecting way over 6 million and thought that it might overtake Emmerdale. Is it the first time a chat show has been live from the Palace? I expected that more people would be curious about seeing a show from it. I never saw the inside of it in real life and enjoyed the show apart from the silly SCD dance at the end.

So what will the BBC do when it finishes a week early? Just air repeats again?

I expect the plan will be to air repeats from the end of the new series to the start of the new one, as per usual. Or maybe throw a few repeats in in the middle of the new series instead.

Capello has resigned as England manager - I wonder whether this may give the pre-match coverage a boost on ITV1 as they're now talking about it. Sky Sports News is the obvious channel which will see a boost as well.

Could have ratings implications for the Ten O'Clock Bulletin, anything to do with England national team in a tournament year is big news.

Who knows? They might show the repeat they originally had planned for Feb 19th.


There won't be much room for AR repeats this summer with the Football and the Olympics.

And potentially bad news for BBC/ITV as it may harm England's chances of progression in the Euros which are not too far away.
