The new series of Roadshow has 13 episodes remaining which will take it up to May 13th. Bet it gets replaced by a new series of Fiona Bruce's other antiques series, Fake Or Fortune?

Because he did such a good job at the World Cup.

Seriously; I don't think it'll make much of a difference. The England camp is going to be divided whatever happens so I can't see them doing brilliantly.

Tonight we couild see ITV's FA Cup programme get more viewers for the pre-match, half-time and post-match slots than for the actual game.

I wouldn't have thought so, he was still doing Gordon Brown impressions in the series just gone!

So true - but sticking it on Sunday at 9pm is possibly the worst slot they could give it. As I said yesterday it's weekdays at 10pm where C4 really need strong content at the moment.

So the BBC blinked first in this then, and actually forgetting Call the Midwife v Corrie the biggest loser in this is probably the Dancing on Ice results show now it coincides with a BBC1 junction. Apparently though DoI are planning to get Katarina and Robin on the ice with Torvill and Dean for a spectacular routine which will bring viewers back in their millions.

Really though ITV's best option would have been to bring the soap hour displaced by football on Thursday forward to Tuesday last week.

A BBC insider "suggested a competitive element to the scheduling". Is that a moan or just pointing out the truth?

Im a bit disappointed that we wont get a CTM vs Corrie battle but ITV should be busy tonight wiping those eggs off their faces.

Could it be that ITV felt that was the best place to put it, just as apparently clashing Strictly with The X Factor was the best thing for BBC One?

BAFTA Television Awards Sunday May 27th

Also they're recording a special Antiques Roadshow for the Diamond Jubilee, which seems to have been a recent commission as they've attached an appeal for items on the recent repeat run- June 3- during the Jubilee Weekend??

Strictly is a Saturday night staple that performs better when it isnt constrained by a very early start and starts later, sometimes overlapping with X Factor.

Corrie doesnt have to be on a Sunday, they would have known about the football displacing an episode for a few weeks. Tuesday would have been a better option for them as their whole night's schedule would have been boosted.

But, ITV can rightly schedule Corrie where they like. Sunday at 8pm against the biggest show on TV at the moment, denting your, somewhat struggling, big entertainment hitter in the process didnt seem like a wise move. The Beeb shifting their schedule back 30 mins has probabaly saved them the embarrasment of Corrie taking a head-to-head beating.

Funny that BBC felt so threatened about Coronation Street denting CTM. I suppose it would have finished on a downer if the ratings fell for the last episode, so they probably had no choice. Wonder if the ratings will remain high in that time slot- people get confused with shows starting at different times

So Corrie won't face CTM. I'm surprised the BBC moved it out of the way. So much for not chasing ratings eh?! Also the 6pm start time for DoI is very early and probably not a wise move. It's not finding its stride at all this series, so to bump it back by 30mins is quite drastic IMO. ITV should have scheduled Corrie on Tuesday night. I would have picked up an OK audience there (probably the same it'll manage on the Sunday), and would have saved moving DoI in the process.

As for last night, Emmerdale did well for a Tuesday (7.5m) and I didn't see PW rising. Looks like a new trend for BBC dramas at the moment. Will Inside Men increase on Thursday I wonder?! Shameless is pretty much dead now which is a shame as I still enjoy it regardless of it not been as good as it once was. ITV flopzone Tuesday......as expected!

I fully expect BBC1 to buy a 10 second ad slot at 8.27pm on ITV1, - "Please turn over to watch the gripping series finale of Call The Midwife on BBC1 - because you know how .... the Dancing On Ice Skate-Off is!"

I don't blame the BBC for moving Call The Midwife. Now Corrie won't be able to dent Midwife directly, Midwife has a chance to finish on a good rating and Upstairs Downstairs can get a potentially higher lead-in. ITV are far more sad that Midwife has been moved. Believe me!

On the subject of the switch for Call The Midwife and Upstairs Downstairs on Sunday 19th February, look out for a trailer to show both shows together rather than just separate trailers.

ITV1 football has gone to extra time (and maybe penalties), so News At Ten will be delayed.

A fantastic night for BBC1 and a typically poor Tuesday for ITV. The BBC have to be happy that Prisoners Wives has gone up in week two. Presumably that's good word of mouth and iPlayer viewers tuning in on the night. They're having a (mostly) good run of drama at the moment it'll be interesting to see how long that lasts...

On the whole Sunday scheduling mess

Its interesting just how many changes one episode of Coronation Street can bring about to so many schedules with ITV1, BBC1 and Channel 4 all shifting their schedules around to accommodate it. One thing that strikes me about looking at the schedules now is why can't ITV air Coronation Street at 7:30 on Sunday? I'd assumed that wasn't an option because it would mean starting Dancing on Ice too early but if they're willing to shunt it to 6PM anyway surely the performance show can be cut down to 90 minutes? Does it really need to be 2 hours long at this stage? That would give them

6PM: Dancing on Ice
7:30PM: Coronation Street
8PM: Wild At Heart
9PM: Dancing on Ice Results

And then nobody would have had to change their schedules around. Arguably that would also give Wild at Heart a better lead-in before its battle with Call the Midwife. That 2 hour run time for Dancing on Ice really is ridiculous.

And instead of having half an hour of exciting chat about Capello and Redknapp, they have to show another half an hour of Middlesborough and Sunderland. ITV will be seriously pissed off just now.

Not if it goes to penalty kicks. We all like a penalty shoot-out

US Ratings Tuesday February 7

Powered by the 200th episode of NCIS CBS claimed victory on Tuesday night in both the demo and with total viewers (they more than doubled their nearest rival, ABC, in total viewers for the night). That episode of NCIS was itself even with its last original in the demo but up in total viewers. NCIS: LA was down however vs. its last original and Unforgettable continues to look cancellation bound pulling a lowly 2.2 which seems unlikely to be good enough for CBS even at 10PM especially if you aren't winning Emmy awards.

Elsewhere ABC's new high concept drama The River debuted poorly and dropped in every half hour across its two-hour run time. Both episodes of Last Man Standing that aired in the 8PM hour were also down vs. its last original. Speaking of down without the power of Michael Jackson and (more importantly I suspect) facing original competition Glee was down half a point week-on-week. New Girl however remained remarkably stable once again pulling a 3.5 and Raising Hope whilst low was up 10% (perhaps grabbing viewers as they deserted The River on ABC).

Over on NBC after the highs of Sunday and Monday night it was back to reality although over its two hour average (2.2) The Biggest Loser was up vs. last week. Parenthood however was down and looks ripe to be axed by the end of the season.

ABC
8PM: Last Man Standing – 2.3 [7.75]
8:30PM: Last Man Standing – 2.5 [7.96]
9PM: The River – 2.5 [8.20]
10PM: The River – 2.2 [6.82]

CBS
8PM: NCIS – 4.1 [20.82]
9PM: NCIS: LA – 3.1 [16.12]
10PM: Unforgettable – 2.2 [11.70]

Fox
8PM: Glee – 3.2 [7.72]
9PM: New Girl – 3.5 [6.92]
9:30PM: Raising Hope – 2.2 [4.46]

NBC
8PM: The Biggest Loser – 2.1 [5.97]
9PM: The Biggest Loser – 2.4 [6.74]
10PM: Parenthood – 1.6 [4.64]

The CW
8PM: 90210 – 0.7 [1.36]
9PM: Ringer – 0.5 [1.15]

I think Dancing On Ice will be hurt more by the two hour run time TBH. it should've started at ha;f six and ran for 90 minutes - it's only ten minutes shorter than last Sunday's show but there are two less couples competing.

As for all the schedule changes, lets just say every channel is ratings chasing - whether they have a guaranteed income or not.

Looking at the US, and specifically CBS, it seems like they're going to want another hour of comedy next year, and TVBtN seems to think that now 4 dramas will be cancelled.

Obviously A Gifted Man is gone. Now I think CSI: NY, Miami and Unforgettable are also gone - the only way for them is down. The Good Wife will be saved by its awards and the fact its so near to syndication; probably a move to Fridays, where it could be in a strong block with Blue Bloods.

Oh don't talk daft. ITV deployed a wrecking tactic to spite CTM and UD, so BBC1 shifted it out of the way. I appreciate its not turned out so well for you now and ITV have ended up with egg in their face and BBC's big two Sunday dramas are in a better position than they would have been without Corrie pitching up on the scene, but boo hoo, that's life.

Extra time and pens means a big peak. BBC2 managed a 7m 10.30pm peak for an all Championship FA Cup clash a couple of years ago, and 5.3m for a league cup extra time clash the other week. So that's the bare minimum ITV will now be looking at.
