Is anyone else getting sick to death of the amount of screen time Laurel keeps getting per episode? I think she gets more screen time per episode then some characters get in an entire month!

I know there is currently storyline centred around her, but even before this she was getting a lot more screen time than any other character - What is going on, is she having it off with one of the producers or something?! I think they should just rename the entire thing to Laureldale and have done with it!

I love Emmerdale, but for the last few weeks I've just been switching over half way through as I'm so fed up of Laurel and her never ending mundane appearances.

I don't know, they still manage to crowbar Chas into every episode, despite the fact she's not even had a story line for yonks.

I hate that they've tried to split up the best couple in Emmerdale

Yes i agree with you there. Laurel should know better and Marlon grrrr just go away, always playing the victim despite him trying to split up a family!

Chas is Aaron's mother, she's ED's queen mum.

well can you blame her for cheating? Ashleys a boring and misrable husband and his father who lives with them is even worse. I would of left him ages ago!

Emmerdale seems to have real problems balancing screentime.

We had Aaron, Hazel and Jackson to the point of excruciation. Cain and Charity the same. Chas all the time for absolutely no reason. Now Laurel.

I have to agree.

Aaron, Chas, Hazel, Jackson and Amy have had so much screentime over the past year.

Then we have Cain, Charity, Jai and Nikhil (you can never have enough Charity though! )

The others don't get a look in. It seems Laurel/Marlon/Ashley are replacing Hazel, Aaron and Jackson.

There's so many characters in Emmerdale that I just don't care about because they never use them!

I don't think it's characters themselves that are ruining the show..
It's the writing
If we had tons of screentime of e.g. Lizzie.. The character supposed to be 'fun' would they surely not ruin her character too?
There's been times I've longed for Laurel and Ashley scenes when other awful miserable stuff has been screened.. Now we get Laurel and Ashley screentime and what have we got? That old Emmerdale love back?
Ha.. No.

Awful awful unbelievable contrived storyline. I'd liken it to the Alfie/Little Mo affair on EastEnders, just totally wrong, completely out of character and came from nowhere. Add to that how long and drawn out this tripe is, and that it's pretty much taken over the show. And Laurel was always one of my favourite characters

emmerdale is a bit boring at the moment, and why is marlon making out ashley is so bad when marlon is the one who tried to destroy a marriage.

My take, (and others I believe) is that the producers are trying to make Marlon out to be more of a sympathetic character, by making Ashley into a monster. Unfortunately, it seems to be an afterthought rather than a forethought. The storyline just doesn't work - I can totally understand Ashley having some misgivings, but Laurel stood by Ashley after all that stuff with Sally (?) the bunny boiler, and this seems to have been forgotten. If she had a problem with Ashley's lack of attention (it was never a problem before?) then she probably would have just told him directly - I don't remember seeing any of this.

I also think that, had Nicola (who strangely did not interact with Laurel at all near the start of the affair, and barely until the end) known, she'd have put Laurel back into perspective and put a kibosh on the whole affair, and in reality this would have happened, as Laurel often confides in Nicola and best friends tend to know when something's odd.

I don't think Laurel's screentime is as much as Aaron, Chas or Amy when they were frontlined, but it does seem to be a case that they do block storylines then fade out for a while; whilst other people make cameo appearances now and then.

Oh for goodness sake! The storyline is over now. If anyone on here thinks Laurel is getting more screen time than Aaron had last year, they either weren't watching last year or have very short memories.

Emmerdale is the most inconsistent soap on TV by a country mile (pun intended). The writing, pacing, acting and character exposure are all over the place all the time. The only thing that is consistent is the universally dreadful storylines.

It's pretty obvious which ITV soap is the teacher's pet and which one is the cold, starving orphan whimpering in the shadows!
