We've had the first live show now - it's reached the serious stages. Did any contestant make you perform a u-turn in your opinion? Did anyone surprise you? Did anyone disappoint you?

Personally, I was a little disappointed in G4. Hated the backing track and they didn't seem as impacting as they were the first few times I heard them sing. I think it must have sounded better in the studio...

Tabby impressed me actually. I think he has some stage presence.

And Simon? Well am loving him even more. Cool and calm, whilst Sharon and Louis had hissy fits and made fools of themselves...

And how good did he look in the suit

Anne! Fab thread!

My opinions have shifted on a) VWS - going down, b) The Tabster - going up and c) Ro - warming to her personality.

Oh - he was delicious in that suit.

My opinion of VWS went down. Everybody else performed as I expected.

yeah, I'm starting to understand why everyone is so excited by Rowetta now. I may be a late joiner to the cause but "go ro".

I'm disappointed in Sharon. The way she was jumping around and yelling when her acts were told they were through was embarassing and distracting. You'd think she'd just won the whole shebang! Calm down!!

Nothing much has changed for me. But then the only contestant i like is Tabby anyway, i don't really like any of the others. I quite liked his performance last night. Not as good as Ainslie from FA though.

Yeah had quite a few changes of opinion. Originally I liked Verity's voice but thought she was pretty grim last night. Steve is very pleasant to look at but I now think his voice is weaker than I did (but OK he had laryngitis). I was well naffed off that Tabby got through instead of Andy but last night he was more interesting to watch than most of the others and FFS what had they done to Cassie???????? I love Sharon to bits but that was inexcusable

BTW has Simon had a haircut?

Nothing much changed for me either. I had a sneaky suspicion that Cassie would be my favourite after the little bits I'd seen from her in previous shows and I was right. All the others seem really ordinary to me . Oh well, suppose I get to laugh at G4, Verity and Steve for another week .

yes - I noticed the haircut. I think his hair has a very critical length. It has looked bouffant in the past and last night, I thought he looked slightly shorn at the sides...

Cassie's stylists need to drop that Oliver look. It did nothing for her and was quite distracting. She sung fabulous though. The best singer there.

Roberta was always a sure thing to go. She was stunning and had a good voice, but she seemed to have a lack of personality.

Tabby is a complete waste of space. Why didn't Andy get through???

Verity - Roberta was weak, but Vee should have been the one to go. Her performance was shambolic. I was actually cringing with every note. I guess the sympathy vote can get you far in these shows.

I like Rowetta but though that comment "i'm through, aint I?" was totally arrogant. She may have said it tongue in cheeck but I'm not sure it came across that way.

I have to say that I have respect for Simon. The other two judges reduced the whole thing to a playground pantomime. I actually believe that Simon gave constructive and truthful criticism. I was shocked at his comments about Cassie, but she does seem to have 'musical' written all over her!

After last night my opinion of Sharon went way downhill, I couldn't stand her, the panty liner joke -there was absolutely no need!!!!!

.....SCAB rocks...Simon was great last night keeping his cool, and also he gives honest opinons, although I did think he was a wee bit harsh on Cassie, who I love!

Didn't like G4 at all...just don't get it with them! Quite liked Tabby...Rowetta was great, and despite the laryngitis I thought Steve did very well - and he's sooo cute!

2 To Go surprised me, they were a lot better than I thought they'd be actually, even though I'm not too keen they did a good job of the song.....

Simon knows how good she is, and so is going to try and get her voted off. I hadn't really noticed Cassie till last night, but she is now my fave to win.

Voices with Soul were better than I expected, I'm still not a fan though.
2 To Go were much better than I expected, I thought they were very good.
Steve was pretty bad but he did have laryngitis so I'll let him off.
Verity was worse than I expected and I expected her to be bad.

I really liked Tabby's performance last night, and I'd been a bit lukewarm to him before.

What on earth did Terry do to Cassie! :O The way she was dressed had me and my other half despairing before she even opened her mouth. And the choice of song, whilst topical with the film Alfie just being in the cinemas, was not one that showed off her "X factor", although she sang it beautifully.

Verity was just so so nervous she sang awfully, really not good. She has to get over those nerves if she's to go much further. Wasn't sure about the song choice there either.

Personally I love G4.

Rowetta was great, much better than I expected.

The others were much of a muchness, certainly didn't change any opinions.

Thought Cassie was better than previously- strong voice
Always liked 2 to Go, now I like them even more
rapidly going off vws and G4
Tabby performed very well, shame it was flat as a pancake
I thought Verity was quietlyOK , but she was also flat last night, though she seems lovely
liked Roberta but the song was too slow to get going
Ill wait and see about Steve
Ro has a good voice but it's not my cup of tea

Yeah, before last night I thought Rowetta was good. Now I think she's fantastic

Listening, not watching them on itv2 now
Thought they all did well really liked Roberta she should be on stars in their eyes as Karen Carpenter not on XFactor though
Like Tabby even less not sure why hes there
2 to go did better than expected
think Verity will improve
Rowetta fantastic so Shirley Bassey
G4 i love them always liked opera voices(sorry 'classicly trained') but not what they sing so its nice to understand what they're singing
Voices with soul started of scrappy but they got better great voices
Cassie i like even more though they stitched her up with that song big time

I wasn't too sure about Cassie but last night she sang effortlessly and flawlessly, albeit the wrong song, and the stylist needs shooting.

G4 I loved in the auditions, but they just sang a mainstream song in a classical style, they have to change something to keep them a viable option.

Tabby I loved...still do

2 to Go improved a lot, but I still find them boring.

Rowetta is undoubtably talented, not my cuppa though, and I felt she was in too low a key.

Steve I will hold judgement on 'til next week, considering the bad throat.

VWS are good at what they do, but not as great as I had hoped.

Verity I don't get at all, nice is all, but nothing to excite.
