It's been posted in the Radio Football Commentators and Reporters thread by 4-4-2 that Andy Gray will be doing co-commentary on the AC Milan v Arsenal game (which will be done on-site from the San Siro) and that Nigel Pearson (who has been confirmed as talkSPORT's Carling Cup Final commentator ahead of Sam Matterface) has tweeted about sorting out which Euro 2012 games he'll be covering for talkSPORT. So it seems to be all go when it comes to the decision making as it pertains to talkSPORT's football coverage during the first half of the year.

For what it's worth, I have some sympathy for Stan Collymore if he has been dropped from talkSPORT's Champions League coverage mid-season (clutching at straws perhaps, but he could have gotten the wrong end of the stick about a one-off). Personally I'd rather listen to Stan co-commentate than Andy Gray, although I prefer Alvin Martin to them both.

Apart from Sam Matterface, who I don't personally either like or dislike, I think the TS commentary team is very strong and I'm not surprised so many people now enjoy listening in ever greater numbers for live matches.

I always enjoyed Alvin Martin and Nigel Pearson myself. Stan and Sam were OK as a pairing but I like Stan's co-commentaries so they too still work well. Andy Gray will also do a good insightful job too whoever he's paired with.

The overall standard is so very high it's not much more than splitting hairs in reality but if I'd like to hear a bit more of Alvin if I'm forced to make a judgment.

Good suggestion that Jack and if it's a realistic option one I'll vote for meeself. Arsene Wenger doesn't need much explanation or lessons on the English game, other than for those who insist on an English manager. He might actually pick players who can play as a team rather than pick the same tired old faces. Every time we're told the slate has been wiped and players will be chosen on merit, these faces always seem to end up back in the squad.

I agree. The one thing I'll add is that most of talkSPORT's commentary pairings have tended to work very well and it's great credit to both Stan Collymore and Alvin Martin for being able to gel immediately with the commentators they've been paired with, as a lot of co-commentators don't have this ability.

For me the combo of Jim Proudfoot (now ITV/ESPN/Absolute Radio) and Alvin Martin is the best talkSPORT have ever had but both Stan and Alvin have worked well with Jim, Nigel Pearson, Ian Danter and now Sam Matterface.

Hopefully Andy Gray will find that instant chemistry with Sam and, should he work with them, Nigel and Ian too.

I disliked both Keys & Gray on Sky. Why? I found them bullish, laddish and quite frankly full on their own self importance. I was determined to dislike them on talksport.

Maybe they have learnt a lesson, maybe they have realised the errors of their ways. I don't know and no one can, but I do find their programmes enjoyable and educational. I'm hoping they have changed for he good (from being almost bullies as previously represented - I suspect the sexist comments were just one facet of what went on and maybe men suffered bullying in a different way). However for the time being I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. That doesn't mean I don't sympathise with where you are coming from. It just means that I'm giving them a second chance myself personally. A chance to prove that someone can learn from mistakes and change.

Yes they have anded another job but from what I've heard it is way beneath the salaries they were getting and let's face it a mid morning talk show on talksport doesn't have the kudos of being front men fr a sky sports flagship tv programme.

It may not only be Talksport. Some managers have an ability to get instant results and I'm a great believer in the 'new broom sweeps clean' philosophy. At the moment I think Harry is one of the only candidates that might be able able to do that

If the last major competition (WC) was anything to go by, Capello didn't exactly set the world on fire and started talking about the euros almost immediately after our lacklustre exit.

This time round I don't want a long term strategy that will set us up for the future, I just want to watch some footie that looks like they all want to play to win and go for it for once.

I don't even care either if the manager is out the door a month later.

Trevor had a very brief spell about 8-10 years ago, replacing Glenn Roeder for the last 5 or 6 games of the season when west ham got relegated. I think he went on record saying that management was definitely not for him.

Well fair enough credit where credit is due Mick Quinn DID say yesterday on the breakfast show that a friend who knew Capello had told him he wouldn't be backing down at the meeting with the FA yesterday and that is exactly what happened. It's gotta be Harry R then surely just who else is there that we could be confident in?, I am pretty sure Jose Mourinho could do a great job for us but lets face it just how long would he last working for our FA before he walked out on them over something, I don't think he'd last the year out before something blew up. I still think we've no hope of winning the coming up euros BUT i do honestly believe the players will be lifted if Harry takes them there and we'll do better than we would have done under Fabio.

I deliberately didn't want to say anything before the court case was finished but now it's over I know I am allowed to, I felt very strongly all along Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric would be found not guilty over the charges. I based it on two things, the first being the total lack of real evidence, the second being that Milan has paid over £100,000,000 in income tax since he came to this country and Harry has paid over £8,000,000, why would they then risk imprisonment over 80 grand? not to mention lose both their excellent reputations.
This case has taken 5 years and cost the country what is it?, 8 million pounds, absolutely ridiculous.

Interestingly Guus Hiddink is said to have put his name forward for England manager, possibly only for a short period until the end of the 2012 Euros. Although obviously not English, I suspect he would be accepted by many Englaish fans given his football manaegment record and ability to communicate well, both with players and the press.

I haven't heard this reported on talkSPORT yet, hopefully it will be discussed soon.

The only legitimate way for me for Harry to take the England job is when his contract runs out in about 18 month's time. Until then he is not available. The only way I can see Redknapp turning down the opportunity to manage England is if he decides to show enormous loyalty to Spurs in return for how good they have been to him. We all know Rednapp's previously said he'd love the job but he's done a fantastic job at Spurs and you never know he just yet might turn his back on the national job and try to make modern history with his present club, if he does take it I'm sure a lot of people up and down the country will have a lot of sympathy for the Spurs fans.
