Tory MP Nadine Dorries urges reform of 'sexist' BBC

I shall list some of the names: Forsyth and Daly, of Strictly Come Dancing; Chiles and Bleakley; Schofield and Willoughby; and Cowell and Holden. Even on sensible Countdown, we find Stelling and Riley. 'Elderly male, young female' is an unchallenged formula.
Ouch

But true. Schofield aged himself fifteen years when he chose Holly Willoughby as his partner.

I bet Amanda Holden is delighted to still be considered "young". I'm not a huge fan of that type of pairing but there is something charming about Brucie and Tess, I think its probably because the age difference is so great that he's more like a fun grandfather figure than a pervy/grumpy/controlling older man figure.

Of course, going back to the question the MP originally raised, the number of those pairings who are on the BBC? Just one.

And being a Tory MP she made sure she made the BBC the target, and very careful not to refer to any News International programmes.

But none of those other programmes receive public funding.

Yes, you have a point there.

Yes but she's bashing the BBC over a particular issue and nearly all of the examples she used to back up her argument were not from the BBC.

It's always interesting to see Phillip Schofield on TV. As it's good to spot the different ways he tries to hide his thinning hair.

Tess, Christine and Amanda are nt exactly 18 year olds! And I think people think Holly is younger than she is because of the little girl lost act she constantly portrays, yes their male counterparts are of course older but we're not talking Heff and his bunnygirls here!

Considering discrimination in the workplace is illegal in all sectors and not just the publicly funded ones, perhaps not.

I find it a bit pervy at the start when she cocks her leg up and he grabs it. He reminds me of Albert Steptoe!

Haha, gutted! To be fair Adrian Chiles and Simon Cowell are also middle aged, don't know who 'Stelling' is.

Jeff Stelling, former Countdown presenter now succeeded by Nick Hewer who's even older.
