So there was 4 cats in our neighbourhood, my cat included. 2 lived next door to me and the other one just down the road.
However now another cat has appeared, like a week ago - with a collar and tag. Its not a young cat, probably one of the oldest (although not actually old old.) It came to us and wanted ALOT of love, which we gave although then our cat got a bit jealous so we stopped. Anyway, we heard next door call for it so it defo has an owner.
But now, this new cat is acting a bit weird. It was sitting VERY close, as close as you could get without touching, to the cat down the road in its garden. The other cat would move away but this new cat would just slowly get close to it again and all the time the new cat would meow, almost like crying, ALL THE TIME. Then one day the new cat pounced on it!
Its now doing the same thing to my cat in my garden, although hasn't pounced on him yet. When it was sitting really close to my cat, my cat would kinda crouch down and make this really weird, throaty noise, not a hiss or meow, kinda like a machine noise, really throaty and rvmmmmmmmm like and his tail was all bushy. The new cat would just sit there, really close and meow. We eventually shoo'd the new cat away but I just don't get what this new cat is doing or what he wants... I think my cat is a bit scared to go out now, although he's 18 months he's by far the smallest of the cats, both in size and weight and hasn't had any experience in fighting/defending himself. And is also the youngest, the next cat is atleast 2 years older, however my cat hasn't had any trouble really with the other cats.
I don't get why this new cat is almost like crying too with all the meowing. I haven't seen the original two cats next door alot since this new one has turned up too. This new cat is a bit overweight like the other two cats next door and knew when its owner was calling it.
I don't know if this helps but my cat is a netured male and I think the other 3 cats are the same or maybe two. This new cat is named Henry however its tag is a pink heart (and the other two cats next door just have a black/dimond collar on with their name), the new cat is also long haired whereas all the cats are short haired. My cat, along with the one down the road and one next door are just mixed breeds and the other one next door is a bengal cat and I think this new cat is just a mixed breed as well.
