A little optimistic don't you think! There is a difference of only 10'000 viewers between Wednesday and Thursday teatime - I don't see 1.3m happening any time soon.

What's the point in being pessimistic? I may be optimistic, I'm not talking like this week or next week but perhaps in a few months if the storylines continue to capture the imaginations of viewers the rise may continue...

The lunchtime edition has risen quite a bit though so I am at least thankful for that.

2 million a day is good. To double that would be amazing...which will be a challenge being on Channel 5. Put it back on BBC1 and it's figures would double over night.

Let's hope. The ratings certainly don't reflect the quality at all do they.

Interesting. EastEnders did got more viewers altogether and also had a greater audience share than Corrie.

Good to see Emmerdale performing so well, particularly at 7pm.

Low ratings for EastEnders again last night.

It really needs to build it's audience again.

It's not as bad when when you add the the repeat rating as it makes it to 8.4million but still.

EastEnders makes the top rated soap once again with 8.86 beating Corrie' 8.77.

With EastEnders jumping 700,000 from it's overnight figure of 8.1million.

That Coronation Street official rating doesn't include HD. On Barb, you have to add the ITV1 official ratings to the ITV1 HD officials which can be found here: http://www.barb.co.uk/report/weekly-top-programmes?

Including HD, that Coronation Street episode officially had 9.50m.

If that's the case, it just goes to show how mental the BARB ratings system is nowadays.

Thats because ITV don't have the HD figures added where the BBC choose too.

Absolutely dreadful for EastEnders!

During the last two years...viewers have gradually switched EastEnders off...and the latest 'figures' are proof of this. I have to say, going on what I have seen of Albert Square since February 2010, I am not surprised!

It is now all about Strictly and The Voice! Strictly and The Voice is where it is at!

What have they got to do with EastEnders and the other soaps?

My point is, that the soaps reined supreme for years...now Strictly and The Voice are pulling in the big figures...figures that only EastEnders can dream about.

EastEnders still beat Neighbours by miles in the ratings you could say that about all the soaps, BGT, The X factor ect, all beat the soaps in terms of ratings.

I'm not going to rise to the obvious bait... but my general point is that the soaps, as a tv genre, are no longer Number 1 in the ratings. They are all beaten by Strictly, The Voice, The X Factor, BGT, Call The Midwife and Downton. The soaps are now (almost) schedule fillers...wouldn't you agree?

I will just say this...if you want a quality, character driven soap, then look no further than Ramsey Street.
