Thanks for those figures, dj. Makes interesting reading.

I'm happy to see ED doing so well and with a great audience share.

Can't say I'm unhappy to see EE's y-o-y decline either. I hope TPTB take note and take on board our complaints, because I enjoyed it for many years until it turned into Hollyoaks+ageing 'gangstas' and I switched off.

Even though ED had it's anniversary week & live episode - it still fell in the overnight avg from last October.
That's got to be disappointing.

Putting the above figures as a drop in %.

ED down 5.5%

Corrie down 5.9%

EE down 8.4%

Not turning out to be a great year for the three main soaps.

No probs Jade

EE is having a very poor year y-o-y. It also had the lowest jump in viewers from Sept. to Oct. out of the Big Three only going up 340k. It all suggests that there's no stories at the moment to attract viewers maybe the big stunt that they have at the end of the month will help.
It has only passed 8m once this winter, that says it all.

Yeah I was surprised Emmerdale wasn't up y-o-y.

The soaps have had a lot to contend with this year: (Euros, Jubilee, olympics/paralympics)

EastEnders bouncing back after the Thursday rating was expected. A decent figure for it.

Or for the obvious - "it could only manage 8 million on Monday in late November, it should be close to 9"

Eastenders is doing ok, not great, just ok. The overnights have dropped a little but the consolidated excluding BBC3 are usually good.

I'm not too worried about EastEnders' ratings as the officials always beat Corrie's.

It would be nice to see it closer to 9 million though.

I think the new year will bring fresh storylines. I would like a break from the Brannings.

But isn't it the case that the BARB officials for Corrie don't include the HD figures?

I don't have any personal interest in ratings, but I do hope EE continues to get beaten, if it means TPTB will actually take some drastic action to improve the show's quality.

It will be back to normal tonight however don't be surpised of Emmerdale beats EastEnders Monday as ITV1 are showing The royal variety performance from 7:30pm

Monday EastEnders was over 8million so doing fine and last nights episode will timeshift over 8million in officials and should be above Emmerdale overall

Emmerdale beats Eastenders again and Eastenders just makes it past the 7 million mark.

Eastenders is in free fall losing its identity day by day. The Christmas Day ratings will be very interesting can't see Eastenders gaining ratings over the Christmas period.

Very true. And when you think that the stories that have dominated the last couple of weeks are going to be anchoring the Christmas episodes, it doesn't bode well.

That's not good for EastEnders. It's funny because the show is actually a lot better than it was this time last year.

There is the answer. EastEnders spent too long being below par. It shredded viewers over a lengthy period and is now having a hard time in winning them back.

7 million a few days shy of December is shocking. Plus it is freezing. The country is having its coldest week of the year.

Going to be very interesting seeing what EE does manage over Christmas.

2011 was a weak year for EE but this current dross (Lauren/Joey and Who's the Shagger?) is alot worse. At least we had the Yusef story playing out last year. A bit panto but dark and half interesting. Where as nothing positive can be said about the central stories playing out currently.

This current stuff is crap.

If I was Lorraine Newman, I'd be very worried right now.

To get 7.1 million (and beaten by Emmerdale - the third rate soap) at the end of November, and it's absolutely freezing, is a poor draw for the show. It really is.

This may well be the first xmas where EE does not win in the ratings battle and you know what, a large part of me wish it doesn't. This is coming from an EastEnders fan btw.

I don't watch the other soaps. Truth be told, I'm not exactly watching EE right now either, due to the poor quality but it's the only show I have followed over the years and when I say years, I say the last 20 years - even if there have been periods where I've tuned out.

Anyway, EE losing out to Corrie, Emmerdale or even Downton Abby may be the kick up the backside the show desperately needs right now.

Well to be fair we don't know what the episodes will be like in a few weeks if they will be really good or bad episodes and Christmas Eve Eve and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and Boxing Day should be good
